I was wondering what everyone’s thoughts were for shipping expensive items that range from $10k-$30k
Do you prefer a specific carrier and why. Overnight with insurance?
Thanks

Depends on the price, but registered mail should work. Or FedEx overnight.
USPS Priority Express Mail. But I’ll splurge and throw in the signature confirmation most of the time.
USPS registered every time unless I’m shipping to the vault then I’ll use FedEx overnight with their fully insured label.
USPS can insure you for a $50k max for about $100.
Don’t trust USPS. They are absolute morons and won’t pay out if something gets lost. Use Fedex overnight or do the deal in person.
You can also use a middleman
Values I thankfully dont have to worry about but if I get there, I’d be flying it myself.
DHL/Fedex Express for me. Never had any issue with them - that being said, there is currently a big issue with a fedex overnight by a forum member here, so nothing is 100% guaranteed.
Where are you shipping to/from?
We have an active case on the forum of a guy shipping $250k fedex overnight a few weeks ago with no insurance and it hasn’t worked out well so far. USPS will absolutely pay out if registered gets lost but it does cap at only $50k.
Always insure for an amount you can’t afford to lose.
a USPS worker told me to ship overnight, but not to bother with insurance because they almost never pay out. twice my shipments weren’t delivered the next day, causing prompt stomach sickness, and then fortunately they both turned up the day after.
surprisingly USPS refunded the shipping cost both times, and you would think i would have learned not to do this anymore, but i haven’t.
Thank you everyone. It’s about 20k or so and I’m leaning towards Usps registered.
Flying is cheaper sometimes. For those of us who are not big like PWCC/HA and can’t get insurance deals like them, it can cost more to insure items than to fly.
Something I find very worrying is the lack of tax talk here. Anyone paying their CapGains taxes on these things or income tax? Did any of you guys even know selling more then a couple cards a year makes you a business and thus you’re not even afforded CapGains and you go straight to business tax? I bring this up cause shipping expenses like flying are what are used against this taxes. I also bring it up cause of the high dollar amounts Pokemon spiked to and may now catch far more ire and attention from the IRS.
Late fees and interest are what truly kill you. Careful.
Bank wire + fedex overnight is the standard. But do whatever you feel comfortable.
yolo
I wish everyone knew just how safe and reliable registered mail is by USPS. It’s the most secure way of shipping anything (50k and under) on this planet (edit: sorry non-US residents )besides third party fully insured firms–of which Fedex/UPS etc. shipping companies are not.
Fedex is the last thing I would recommend if shipping is your liability getting it there safely. Everyone has different good/bad experiences so will recommend based on their experience, but every single company has documented bad experiences and lost packages.
Except one: USPS registered mail. It cannot and does not happen.
I’m aware of the tax implications and have all ducks in line. Luckily we are a business.
I would totally fly but it’s not an option unfortunately.
I stopped selling outside Europe, simply because there is no way I can insure the items above 5k.
Once we are allowed to travel again I will deliver in person. No other option for me.
