Shifting holo patterns on base set?

Hey all I was looking at two of my Nidokings tonight and noticed the holo patterns between them are slightly shifted. Have never noticed this before. Anyone know what I am looking at here? See photos below - the patterns in the top image are shifted slightly up in the second image. Thanks in advance

I’m by no means am expert but think I can help explain somewhat. I apologize if this isn’t 100% accurate…

Base set cards were printed with several layers, one of those layers being the Holo foil. Similar Holo foil patterns can be seen across different cards. For a case like this the explanation is likely pretty straightforward… The 2 cards came from different sheets where the Holo foil sheet was aligned on the base layer in slightly different positions.

Great explanation, thank you! Learning something new everyday about the TCG

Just a slight correction. The holo is part of the cardstock and the ink is printed directly on it. The holo pattern will be offset simply because the foil isn’t tiled to match the size of each card.
