So I have always seen that people love to collect one particular card when it comes to collecting in Pokemon. I have always respected that but never done it myself because I had never felt that way about any particular card… Until now…
The Card I’m looking to collect checks all the boxes that I’ve been looking for:
It’s a card I can relate to.
It’s a rare card.
Has an AMAZING artwork.
Bonus: it kind of looks like me…
That card is: Fisherman - Skyridge - Reverse Foil
(Been a fisherman my whole life and a lover of Pokemon my whole life… It’s perfect)
I’m looking to buy NM/M copies mostly. This includes raw and graded copies.
The last 2 sold listings for PSA 9 graded copies have sold for 20-35 on eBay so I’m looking in that range for graded 9 and for a 10 we will just have to discuss what is fair since the population is really low. If you have a lesser condition one - I’m still interested as this is a card I want to collect any I can find but for the right price. I’m not looking to overpay for the card due to it being a low population. It’s a niche card and I know that but I’m also willing to be fair. Thanks guys!
If I could afford to overpay for items then I would feel the same way - but at my stage in life - I’m unable to overpay for things. Completely understand the mentality though and wish I could. It might dig some of these cards up if I was offering crazy amounts for them lol.
They want an absurd amount of money for it. I contacted both of the ones on the market currently and even though similar cards are selling for $100 or less they are trying to get like 300-500 I’m assuming. Both listed are 900 and 1500 on eBay…
I dunno… these are ofcourse absurd prices but you have to factor in that these cards are difficult to grade as reverseRares & that fisherman was a played card. Better yet (or worse in this case): it is still a legal card to play in this standard metagame- in fact; its the ‘oldest’ copy that is still playable- add the reverse rare part to it & then i believe a NM ‘raw’ copy could go for more then 30bucks.
Its not a real staple (yet- you never know), and ofcourse there is the secretRare version that came out, but if I would want to ‘bling out’ my deck i would play 4copies of this reverseFisherman.
Fenomenal artwork, great chasing choice & I wish you good luck on your quest for a strong PSA copy!
This is not the correct mindset for this. Sure - they can go as high as they want - but that just means they don’t want to sell the card. The population has increased in the last couple weeks even and no reverse trainer from this set has ever hit above $400 at its max value to my knowledge. I’ve seen 9-10s in mint condition sell for $20-40… The amount of people searching for these cards is extremely low as well. Demand isn’t high and supply is increasing… explain to me why their prices aren’t absurd.
The old market value was $40…until somebody posted on e4 that they desperately wanted the card! The pop is still tiny for this card so the very few sellers get to set the market.
Oh I understand they can charge whatever they want and “set the market”. I’m just curious how long it takes until they actually want to sell the card for what it’s worth. Becuase I’m not touching it near their prices lol. And I’ve only ever heard of like 1 or 2 other people in the market for this card in the past couple of years so I know the demand is small.
Edit; don’t get me wrong, although I adore these cards I would prolly never pay +100$ for a reverse graded copy- maybe the crystals. Let alone 900$ for a supporter
Exactly my point haha. I’ve offered $150 for them just to offer more than anyone else and the offer wasn’t even considered lol. I respect their right to decline. Not saying I have a problem with them but I’m always looking for fairness. Just crazy lol. Thanks for backing my point up though
Assuming you only want the reverse holographic version, but I did come across a cheap non-holographic NM card just in case it doesn’t matter in the end:
