Sealed Modern Promos - open & grade or keep sealed

I’m in a grateful place to have copies of Felt Hat, all the On the Balls, and some PC Squirtle reverses that I shut away and forgot about for a few years.

Is there a downside to just opening and grading these?

Cutting the cellophane would make me feel a bit ill haha

Downside

  1. you lose all attention from sealed collectors
  2. you might get terrible grades and might lose value
  3. you get good grades but get upcharged to oblivion (PSA only)
  4. it gets lost in the mail and sad days for everyone

Upside

  1. you get good grades and make a ton of money
  2. its somewhat secure and safe inside its plastic case
  3. Liquidity and its easy to price
  4. depending on the grade you attract a certain group (PSA 1 collectors to PSA 10 collectors and sometimes the occasional slab crackers for that binder collection)
  5. if you get Black Label (BGS only) you have just made a ridiculous amount of money that doesn’t make sense to normal people
