Youāre joking but there are some people out there who legitimately hold that belief.
As I said there are many other things to do with $2k. I would not chalk this price up to the new high water mark or say thatās the new automatic value. But probably someone who wanted that card right there and then and didnāt mind overpaying a bit for it. Thatās not going to be every buyer. The card will likely grow into that value someday unless many more 10s get graded. Which seems unlikely.

It is quite crazy how things are playing out, but at this point in time its truly all speculation as to what may happen next. Could rise, could fall, its anyones guess. I could say Neo sat for years without moving and say maybe its the time for it, and i could also say its just a set card. Then I could also note its insanely hard to grade and even pack fresh ones arent likely to hit a high grade psa wise, and i could also say that theres a low psa pop for it in general.
Truth is though with all of this information at our disposal which i rattled off, all we can do is guess whats to come. In the meantime the wisest move is to always tread with caution and care and do what you think is best without hurting yourself in any monetary way which in these tumultuous times is completely possible. Anythings possible really, which was proven in the last few days, but I would just hate to see others really dig a hole here for themselves when theres ways to go about this which might be healthier.

In my opinion (this is not a fact and anything can happen)ā¦
This card will be one of the biggest pump and dumps pokemon has seen in a whileā¦ stuff like shiny black label zard going from 10k to 1k will be worse than this correction for T17 but I still expect this card to be less than 1k in a psa 9 within a years timeā¦ The pop is way too high to sustain these prices but irrationally and greedy exuberance can go for longer than expected a la bitcoin.

Again, speculation. All something like this does is cause unneeded and unnecessary drama in an otherwise safe talking space.
Opinion is not fact, and even so we should try to throw this in a more positive and healthy light before this gets to be toxic.

Where did I say this was fact? Itās my opinion and worth someone putting their neck out instead of pumping this to the moon? Or would you prefer I jump on the bandwagon and agree we are going to the moon?

In the end buy what you enjoy and if you dont enjoy paying 2k for owning this card just buy something else. I paid double price for a fan club karp because I didnt buy it months ago. I literally blew all my life savings in that card. It is what it is and I enjoy the card I own now. I couldāve rolled in the floor crying and kicking like a baby but that was not going to bring the old price back. I wanted it and paid it knewing it was not going to drop in price. If you want to speculate wait and see, take the risk, or buy it and take the risk.

You canāt compare this to black label zard. The fact is that this card is exceedingly hard to grade and finding near mint to mint raw copies are very few and far between. Itās been said before that this is a young hobby. And as more people get into this hobby, the more competition there will be for these higher grades. Having 9 copies of the psa 10 in the pop report is basically nothing. Even if no new people entered the hobby, the current ones will continue to build wealth and these prices will continue to rise just because of that

Iām just glad that Iām not a set collector with unfinished sets at this point. But if someone wants to throw 2k of their own money at a PSA 9 set card, why would I care. Itās fun to watch this development from a distance

I only mentioned that card as it was a pump and dump like this will be in my opinionā¦ the magnitude wonāt be the same as stated in my original post. Prices wonāt raise in a straight line forever and donāt for any asset class before a huge correction occurs. Just because something is low pop doesnāt mean itās rational for it to double every second week. Thatās called a bubble and never ends well for those late to the party. We saw it with gold stars and crystals in 2017 and I think we are starting to see it now with some neo cards. Just my view and I could be completely wrong and T17 in a 9 is going for $5k+ by end of year.
Let me get this straight: a psa 9 pop 131 T17 sold for 2k twice, while the T18 psa 10 pop 83 sells for $315 (probably less since best offer) last week.
Can someone explain to me what im missing here?

Of course Itās not a pump and dump. The interest is organic and I wouldnāt be surprised if it was 10k by end of year.
