Reshiram and Zekrom Full Arts from Black and White

I was watching Rusty go through some packs in this video and at 13:30 he begins to describe the different backgrounds of the Reshiram and Zekrom Full Arts.

I’m fully aware of the two colorations of Zekrom, the black one and the gray. I haven’t been able to track down the differences or notice any in the Reshiram, however, and was just curious if I’m straight up ignorant or if this was just a slip of the tongue.

Now that I brought it up, I’m also interested to know which version of the Zekrom (black or gray back) was printed first. Thanks!

The gray Zekrom was printed first, since the black version is the “corrected” print. There ARE two different copies of Reshiram that I’m aware of, though the difference between the two isn’t in the background. Instead, you’ll have to look at the outline of Reshiram’s head tails (located next to it’s name) on both copies. One print completes the outline and ends in a point while the other sort of fades away before forming the point. I am personally not sure which print came first. There’s a thread on this forum that details the difference between the two, unfortunately I don’t know it offhand. You could probably find the difference by looking at copies on ebay, though.

@enigma , wow, I just checked the two copies of Reshiram that I own and you’re right - the difference is VERY subtle. Maybe a few millimeters’ worth of extra silver lining is missing on one copy while the other lines those eyebrows? completely. Thanks for the tip! I think I like the full lining a bit better haha

EDIT: I feel like the completed lining on the “eyebrow” would be the corrected print given that it adds that extra bit of detail. I could be completely wrong, and if somebody has the link to the post differentiating the two prints, that’d be super.

Here’s a link to the thread:

The thread itself is a lot smaller than I remember haha. I do agree with you: the full-lining print seems like the “correct” printing, which could indicate it could be the second printing.
