Recent Experiences with In-Slab Crossovers and GCR for Vintage?

Anecdotally—and from past experience—it seems CGC is the only grading company that gives any meaningful consideration to in-slab crossovers. With PSA and BGS, especially on vintage, it often feels like a waste of time and money.

That said, has anyone had recent success crossing to PSA with a minimum grade, or through Beckett’s Graded Card Review (GCR)? I’ve heard there’s slightly better luck at big events like Nationals or Beckett VIP sessions, but would love to hear any up-to-date experiences or data points from folks who’ve tried recently.

*I know the default answer is to crack and submit as raw but for high value cards I don’t think its worth the risk for vast majority of people unless they’re willing to gamble on 5 figure cards

No success crossing from CGC to PSA for me recently. Beautiful cards too. With PSA they just enjoy taking your donation. My attempts were not 5 figure but low-mid 4s

Ive had 0 success crossgrading from cgc to psa. Even had 3 cgc pristine 10’s get denied a psa 10 in may. Last year failed a 9.5 to a psa 9. I stopped trying and just stick to crack and resub to psa. I do still have one crossgrading order open now from a sgc 10 to a psa min 10 , but i dont know when it will finish.

There is a reason the default answer is crack and submit.

Lots but you always need to crack.

  • PSA 9 Shadowless Blastoise to BGS 9.5

  • PSA 8 shadowless Raichu to BGS 9.5

  • PSA 6 neo 3 shining Magikarp to BGS 9++

Many various wotc PSA 8 to BGS 9 or higher

Graded Card Review is a scam.

anyone have experience going to CGC from BGS/PSA or BGS from BGS?

I feel like its unfair to say no success without keeping context in perspective. Asking psa (or any company) to financially guarantee Gem mint while a card is in a case seems very unlikely to ever be a reasonable idea, especially if your minimum is also listed to not crack it unless it is a Gem mint.

I was going to ask you the same. You mentioned CGC is the only company that gives meaningful consideration to in slab-crossovers. What is that based off of?

Genuinely curious. I’ve just never heard of anyone with a positive experience with any company outside of Logan Paul :slightly_smiling_face:
