It’s pretty well known that the best way to cross between grading companies is to simply crack the card out of one slab and submit it raw to the company you prefer, but people ask ALL the time just how hard can it be to use the actual cross over service with PSA. The answer? Hard.
I just saw this video linked below and it’s a refreshing reminder that using the crossover service is usually not a great idea. Let me save you the watch…
13 cards submitted, 1 crossover and it was a 1.5 downgrade. I can’t speak to crossing from PSA to CGC or BGS, but when it comes to crossing over to PSA, be prepared for the inevitable.
While I agree with the sentiment, the video is not great because it essentially consisted of cgc graded cards.
CGC is wildly viewed as an easier grader to psa
The one and only bgs card didnt list sub scores. and you can still get a bgs9.5 with a single 9 sub score but thats considered a weak 9.5 gem and viewed as a lower standard compared psa10
If i have an essentially gem card with a small flaw like a single nicked corner, but i know that centering/surface/edges are amazing, I often send to Beckett (depending on the card and its projected value) to get a bgs 9.5 as opposed to a psa9,
