there are a bunch of non base set or non promos german cards that were graded by PSA and are now in the PSA set registry as english cards. If someone would want to try I think you could get even more cards graded like this.
With that said, the seller of the Rayquaza is known to list items with made up facts, as of now he is still trying to sell a sunfaded card as an “Albino” printing error card.
Especially with something like this. Neo Yanma/T17 is one thing, but this is just a screwup on PSAs part. Why he thinks it’s worth 5x more than English even though German is much cheaper is beyond me.
hey, sorry i’m pretty late. @farid45 , this is my card, i bought it from rayquazatcg some time ago, who is also not the one who sent it to psa. it is one of a kind due to the fact that PSA does not grade german goldstar cards and will not officially grade any in the future, this one slipped through the system years ago. there’s lots of bad vibes for this card as many don’t think this “PSA error” is quite special, “it can happen anytime again”, “there are other gem mint cards out there”, “just because psa made a mistake”. after all, yes, the fact that psa made a mistake is the reason why this card is POP1. but let that sink in, it is pop1 - and not PSA8 or PSA9, it is PSA10 GEM MINT. you can’t get another one in all over the world. and in all those 15 years, there never showed up a second one of those anywhere in the world. and even if, a pop2 would still be higher in value than a pop43, hell even a pop3. but fact is that it isn’t a pop2 or pop3, it is pop1. try to get another pop1 card which is one of the most sought-after cards in the hobby, anyone? good luck.
and quite frankly and no offense, but many americans don’t really get the german market. there’s such a high potential, i’ve seen and met many german people that are crazy for pokemon and buy german cards way over the price of english cards. the fact that the english market is bigger makes most of the cards more valuable in english, no doubts, but not every single one. so if you’ve never been in the german high end card market, don’t judge a german card, because you don’t really know what you’re talking about. (fun fact: i already sold a german ray to an american once, because he liked the different border color, so even some americans are interested in this one)
in the end, if you don’t like it, don’t buy it, it’s always easy to shittalk about something you don’t own yourself. no need to talk bad about other people’s cards aslong as they’re something special and not the heavily played bulbasaur for $50’000. why should i talk shit about some trophy cards being offered for millions which exist x-times in the world, i don’t. their card, their price.
Jealousy and bad vibes really hurt the hobby and its community. I don’t want to be part of that.
that said, now some comments:
this is total bs, see my text above. why should i ask less for something which exists 43x in english and 1x in german, when for germans the german ray is similar in value as for english speaking folks the english version? makes not much sense, does it.
it’s not about demand, it’s about the supply. and if you then compare the demand to supply ratio to the english one, it is higher, way higher. 300mio americans, 80mio germans, 43v1. do the maths. (yes, i neglected the other english speaking and german speaking countries, doesn’t matter)
I actually do this on a few cards I don’t want to sell, because after all, I’m still a collector who likes to share cards with others. If anyone is interested, the price is always negotiable.
precisely. my card, only one in the world, my price.
LOL
lol what, that’s funny, see below:
oh, we can be fully transparent when you’re already talking stuff about me. i once asked prochaos91 if he was interested in trading this card as the trophy kangaskhan is one of my fav. cards of all time. i once wanted to buy the card from you scott, 3 years ago, for 10k.
we all know that by now, and still not a single one of those cards is one of the most popular cards out there as the ray. “is known to list items with made up facts”, are you kidding me? 1000+ positive feedback and 0 negative says something else. is it necessary for you to lie, again? i put that offer offline as soon as i realized it is not what i bought it for and immediately changed the description. and by the way, you talking shit about me 24/7, who are you? it is easy to stay anonymous all the time, huh. jealousy really ruins this wonderful hobby.
My view is technically it isnt a “POP 1 PSA10” because it’s not even registered in the PSA database as that. There is no way and will be no way of knowing if it is a pop 1 2 or 3.
Now It most likely is the only mistakenly graded German PSA10 Ray, however this is not because there is isn’t other PSA10 quality German Rayquaza’s out there. It’s because most people know that PSA state they would not grade this card, so they would not waste the time & money sending it in to try to get it graded on the chance PSA makes a mistake.
It is not a POP1 Card Its a POP2000 PSA Mislabel Mistake
I also don’t think people are “jelous” just because they disagree with what you think, I Personally have no interest in the Rayquaza card English or German, It’s just not a card i like.
that’s basically what i said, it doesn’t matter if there are 1000 more gem mint ungraded copies out there (there aren’t, super scarce in that condition), fact is that none of them will get psa10. if no second one appears, it’s pop1, period. if there will be another one in the future, the earth stops spinning and someone bought it from me earlier as pop1, he can always return it, idc. it’s not just that card mate, and not just about my cards, I’ve experienced alot of jealousy all over the years in different aspects and forums, unfortunately. and this is sad.
Yeah I mean I agree that many American collectors underestimate the German market. I disagree that a low pop = high value, because demand is way more important in the first place. A high demand pop 100 card can absolutely have 1000x the value of a low demand pop 1 card.
But at the end of the day everyone is entitled to ask whatever price they want for their own cards and that’s the only thing that matters here.
the demand is super high (as this is not only a lowpop, but also one of the most sought-after cards), but not for that price, because not everyone gets it that this is a niche card. i got offers for 20k-30k, i declined.
At the end of the day, it’s value is whatever someone will pay so we just have to wait and see what it’s really worth. That being said, given the owner is trying to sell it they’d obviously try to hype up the card rather than downplay it so I’ll take anything the owner says with a grain of salt.
i didn’t start this thread, did I? and still no one of those who had such a big mouth here posted anything after my post, that should say enough (maybe i triggered one now, please feel free to post, i like to argue obviously). just some downplaying from people who don’t like the card or have no clue that this goes beyond normal cards collecting. one even had to lie about my person to make his post worth reading just trying to make the card worse. how sad is this, are we in the kindergarten or what?
this is all about supply and demand, the supply is super low and the demand super high, but not for the price i’m asking for, but that’s good as i don’t want to sell it “cheap” and it has a wonderful place in my collection, no need to get rid of it. all those “arguments” about the other gem mint copies out there don’t change anything, aslong as there is only 1 psa10, i couldn’t care less - and this has been the case for the past 15yrs. but feel free to send all your thousands gem mint german rays in to psa, go ahead, please! i’d really love to see that, even if some get graded and get 8 or 9 or 10, a 10 would still be higher in value than one of the 43 english psa10 lol.
as said before, it’s always easy to talk bad about something you don’t own yourself. internet hate, no facts - i’m used to it, i’m not new to the hobby, so what. i don’t worry too much 'bout some salty opinions here. cheers
i still wonder who the kid behind this big mouth is, i bet i know you, why don’t you tell me mr. anonymous? when and where did i piss you off that you’re so mad?
Sorry, VERY FEW are going to pay for a foreign language set card regardless of the “pop” report. Its a matter of opportunity cost…
You could buy a:
Shadowless 10 Charizard
2 Typhlosion 17s
Various Trophy cards (Legit rarity)
~2-3 Blastoise 1st eds in 10.
No matter how many “offers” you claim to have, the card simply doesnt measure up. Now this is a free market and you may catch the 1-2 people that want this card and will pay any price. It happens. With that said, best of luck with it. Its good that you have a story that you can back up your price with. The market just hasn’t bought off on it
