There is a card I am interested in buying from the UK (I am in the USA) that will be about $400. I have looked all over the place about customs fees and cannot get a clear answer. I have seen some say that $800 is the limit, and at other places I have seen $2,500. I have also seen some people say you don’t even have to pay customs fees on trading cards.
Because I simply don’t know and want to make sure I’m doing the right thing before I make this purchase, I figured I’d ask the experts.
Do I have to pay customs fees on a $400 item?
Probably a dumb question, but I am not experienced with buying items from overseas.
Sometimes on eBay you will have to pay tax if you are in the US, it seems to be random maybe a state tax?
(this was someone from USA, I contacted eBay about this transaction and they confirmed that the buyer did pay the tax on their end) so far it has happened to some buyers from California and Ohio but not all buyers from these states so it makes no goddam sense lol
Yes sales taxes are a separate matter and I believe eBay has nearly fully rolled that out by now. Ebay collects sales taxes by tax jurisdiction of which the U.S. has over 1,000.
