Bought a âheavyâ jp base pack and pulled a breeder.. It was when I started collecting again and did not know pack weights can vary from box to box.

As a kid, I didnât have the opportunity to get a lot of packs; so it was rather exciting when I could get one. I was over at a friendâs house and his mom let us each pick a pack of ex unseen forces. We both wanted the Raikou pack art, and they only had one at the store. We flipped a coin; he won and subsequently got the Raikou pack art. I had to settle for the steelix pack art (still cool, but not Raikou level cool). I excitedly pulled a Blissey ex; only to see my friend pulled a Lugia ex. Normally Iâd have been ecstatic with the Blissey, but as I had very few ex cards it was so infuriatingly disappointing to be so close to getting my most desired card from the set and yet so far.

So, my one was a disappointment because Iâm a major pessimist. Context: I bought a Jolteon VMAX premium box, where I was guaranteed a VMAX the Jolteon card. The problem was, I was assured by everyone that the booster packs inside were usually shit. So when I pulled this Mew VMAX alt art, I wasnât happy, I immediately concluded: âFuck this, is my box fake?â
It was just anger and disappointment. Until a friend on this forum assured me it wasnât a fake, and that the box had the QR code cards inside, checked the card etc., that it was real. I was so close to tearing the card apart to assess whether it was authentic or not but he was like âwtf is wrong with you?â.
So thatâs me. My pessimism made me not enjoy a good card pull.

That is understandably frustrating, but hopefully now that past trauma, if you will, has helped cement the Mew as a special card for you both aesthetically and sentimentally!

I canât really remember any very disappointing pulls tbh. The worst were probably some random ETBâs or blisters for which the modern packs only contained Holofoil Rares and a boring Ultra Rare GX/V/ex card. 
Overall, both me and my little brother have been very lucky with our pulls, looking back on them now, even though we havenât opened too many packs and never any boxes. Both me and my little brother only opened a single Base Set booster pack, both contained a holo (Chansey and Alakazam); weâve only opened 10 Neo Revelation booster packs in total, which included both the Shining Magikarp and Shining Gyarados; weâve only opened 10 Neo Destiny booster packs, for which my little brother pulled the Shining Steelix; weâve only opened 12 Aquapolis booster packs, which included a Crystal Kingdra and Crystal Nidoking. I also opened a Chinese EX Legend Maker booster box a couple years ago, and got the Registeel GS I wanted. And a Korean Double Crisis booster box, which contained the Team Magmaâs Groudon EX (which was good, since I already had the Korean Team Aquaâs Kyogre EX in my Seviper collection as cameo) and all other cards in the set except for one random trainer, which I bought as single a couple years later.
I guess the Legendary Collection booster pack I opened as a kid was -at the time- disappointing, because those packs contain duplicated cards, which I donât care for; and I also thought the Reverse Foil was fake because of that earlier fact (and because I bought the booster pack at a secondhand open air market).
But if I look at that pull with todayâs glasses, a Reverse Foil Moltres is far from a disappointing pull, haha.

My most disappointing pull was as a kid. I had some extra money and I decided to buy a booster of Japanese neo discovery. I was super excited. I pulled a holo yanma. Ok no big deal. I bought a second pack and pulled ⌠a holo Yanma. Since then I canât bring myself to like
Yanma. Every time I see him it reminds me of this.

If it makes you feel any better, I now value this card so much more! Honestly Iâll probably associate this story with the card as I also didnât realize it was a rare pull!
