QotD: What ideas can make the next generation of Pokémon more popular than gen 1?

But then I go online, and I see what the community is doing. It’s insane. The fan art for new regional forms, incredible new evolutions for forgotten Pokémon, and even brand-new fan-made Pokémon are just bursting with the creativity and soul that made us fall in love with the series in the first place. A lot of these designs are, frankly, way better than what we’ve gotten officially in the last few generations.

Why they never come to fruition reminds me of this,

Reminder to everyone that in the massive Pokemon leaks that happened, it was confirmed a Flying type Eeveelution was planned and designed, but was scrapped because they thought it looked too similar to a fan-made one they found and they didn’t want to have to deal with accusations that they copied or stole it.

For every good fan-made Pokémon on social media is another potentially original creation the designers must scrap. The grand irony about being passionate for Pokémon is perhaps we could have got what we wanted in new Pokémon games if it wasn’t already posted
