Welcome to my postcard collection thread. I’m hoping to share a postcard or set of postcards every week or so from my modest collection. I’ll include any release/artist info if I know it!
First I thought I’d share this set of 9 postcards from the Pokemon Colors event which ran from July 26th, 2023 to August 18th, 2023. It was an interactive Pokemon themed exhibit which also previously ran from 2021 to 2022.
This pwill absolutely be great, post cards really don’t get the attention they deserve and i’m certain this thread will open a lot of eyes, can’t wait to see and learn of some hidden gems!
Here’s a recent addition to my collection, a New Year’s postcard from PCJ from 2014. There’s a lot I enjoy about this one. Sometimes misattributed to Arita, not sure on the artist here.
This week are my 4 (of 9 total) eeveelutions postcards from the 2012 “Eevee Campaign”. You received a random one of the nine when you made a purchase at the Pokemon Center in Nov 2012 with a purchase of 2000 yen. Hoping to snag the others as they come up
We are back on the New Years postcard train this week. Here is a sealed pack of 4 new years postcards from 2011. All four postcards here are the same artwork. Artist is Mitsuhiro Arita. Thanks to @totodile_in_pursuit for helping me add this art to my collection! This was one of my favorites when I first saw it.
The number of postcards in a pack, and number of different artworks in a pack has varied over time. Some have 3, some have 4, some have 6, and you can find up to 3 different artworks in those 6 packs.
Edit that I was mistaken on the 6 packs with multiple artworks, those are for “pochibukoro”, which are gift envelopes, not postcards. Thank you sensei @caughtatpoint!
This is a recent addition, a postcard from 2013/2014 from the “with you” campaign. This campaign ran for a number of years to support those impacted by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. There are a few more postcards from this campaign that I hope to pick up in the future.
These are a couple of my favorites from the Televi Kun Green Postcard book, done by Kagemaru Himeno. Most of the postcards in the book are captures from the TV show, but there are a handful of great original artworks in there. There is also a red version, and a blue version, of these postcard books with different postcards included.
