yea mine comes in full blocks like this, and if you look at picture 3 above both the top and the bottom of the foam is like that, so if I pull out a block it goes all the way back down to the plastic (no bit of foam on the bottom… which would have been ideal)
they confirmed for me they should have shipped a thin under foam layer and did not. wait like a month for this to arrive so very excited to wait another month for a piece of foam ;p
I have the same question as OP but for something in the US. Does anyone have a box or case that they prefer?

We Europeans have it tough for stuff like this. There are plenty of viable options but the postage costs more than the item to get it shipped. I am looking for a hard storage case aswell…cardboard psa boxes are ok but not really ideal XD.
Large hard camera/equipment cases seem to be a possible option but getting the right depth to store cards upright etc will be a little more tricky.

This is the Palms Off Gaming box. It is currently exclusive to Australia, but I’m changing that. I think it perfectly fits the middle ground you’re describing and a lot of people would love it.

Got my storage boxes yesterday from Palms Off Gaming. Absolutely fantastic product, very premium with quite a low cost!
Boxes hold between 57-60 PSA slabs (57 of the older thickness, 60 of the new).
Mans it’s great to see how far Darcy (palms of gaming) has come !!! Started out doing just little binders and random stuff but he’s making a name for himself

Go to your local Harbor Freight and ask for the “Apache” section. There are different sizes. I use them for all of my PSA cards. A cheaper Pelican case.
Can you please post a picture of what way you keep them in the case. I want to grab a 3800 but don’t want to buy it and botch the organization
