It appears at least one of these shadowless Charizards had been fake stamped and then rubbed off most likely due to a botched stamp job. Not 100% certain if the seller is the stamper or if they are reselling a fake they received, but they are very suspect due to the abundance of shadowless charizards in their possession. It doesnât look like they have a history of selling any âfirst edâ charizards, however.
all updates and information were posted here. I told them about the stamp, they broke it out of the case confirmed, I included every picture here and examples, telling them to look at the font, the ink smudge, the placement etc.
ACCORDING TO PSA, it is real
it should arrive this week and I will repost pics of it in the new case. then contact scott
Did they get rid of all the old graders and hire new ones? It seems like lately (start of the year to now) that they have gone really soft on grading. I have gotten cards back that have print lines in the holo or strong whitening on the back and they will get 10s A few cards i would consider a strong 8 have come back a 10⌠Iâve actually started looking at the condition of graded â10sâ a lot closer now before i buy them because of this. In the past, a print line, or a good white spot on the back was a automatic 9 from my past experience. It seems like they are slacking nowâŚ
Hey all,
So since we are on the topic can someone tell me if they think this is fake? The seller is from my hometown, Melbourne, Aus so Iâll ask if I can see the card in personâŚ
Looking at the page the card is being sold from a 0 feedback seller and if you look at the bidding it looks like he has made another 0 feedback account and has bid on his own item.
Iâm thinking it could be a fake stamp and he has got it custom sealed so it wonât run off? Anyway, thatâs just a theory. On the last photo if you zoom in on the 1st ed stamp it looks like it is minus 1-2 degrees off centre. Also the âTâ in edition looks a bit odd. Can anyone see any clear signs that the cards are fake. All very sussâŚ
Honestly, I can tell from all the images, but if you look at the last picture the T is particularly bad. The stroke on the top is angled. As for me I can tell by the 1 inside the circle, it comes from trying to determine if a card is thick or thin stamped over many years.
Hi all - after reading this thread my anxiety has intensified - however I âluckilyâ I guess? cannot afford any of the TOP TIER cards that could potentially be altered/faked. I was just browsing my cards anyhow, it seems like all my 1st edition base stamps are located a little more to the right of the card than my fossil/team rocket 1st edition stamps, is this normal? Thanks!
@muddy take a soft piece of cloth and apply firm but not damaging pressure to the stamp, rub it two to three times. If itâs fake itâll alter the stamp. I wonât explain why but even dried stamp will come off with enough vigor. If youâre buying them online you obviously canât do this, but stamp removal is the best test.
*edit, you can also apply damped cotton swabs to it, the card wonât get damaged by a very small amound of liquid but the stamps wonât last. Do this one with extreeme caution as you can damage the card is your cotton swab is too wet. I recommend wetting the swab then pressing it against a towel to dry it up enough to not damage the cards. Donât use too much pressure either.
Thanks cullers, but I mean for cards Iâve bought already slabbed by PSA. From different sellers and different times, all of my 1st edition base cards appear to be about 0.5mm to the right, in comparison to 1st edition Rockets/Fossil
@cullers Iâm at work at the moment so I canât post photos, but I put up a thread in the collections section with all my cards, hopefully you can see what Iâm talking about there
Apologies for spam, but Iâve checked online on google images and it appears that what I was saying is pretty consistent. 1st edition base set stamps are about 0.5-1mm closer to Pokemon description on the right, as opposed to subsequent 1st edition stamps.
