Looking to buy a card from someone in the the 5 figures. Very low pop card and it was recently graded. It was sold to another guy and then the cert was deactivated. The seller doesn’t really know why it was deactivated and I was wondering if there is any way to find out why it was deactivated or if its even worth buying. Pretty much no decent 10s on the market except for 1 or 2 others but yeah not ideal scenario.
Also what would happen if someone bought a card then PSA deactivated the cert? Their PSA guarantee would not longer be void?
I feel like that takes away the entire premise of PSA guarantees because you could buy a high end card and just randomly it gets deactivated and you have no recourse for refund or insruance by PSA? Especially if the card has pretty much zero sales in the last 7 years.
My guess is there are known fakes made from the real cert, so PSA took the cert down. The card you are looking at might be the original real card. If so, someone needs to send it in to get a new cert #

It was graded recently so it could have been a fake. Its like 11 cert? And was deactivated last month? Seller says they reached out to psa and they wouldnt tell him why.
i’ve had this happen to me but in my case after the CRC review they determined they don’t grade that set anymore
thankfully it was just ~$500
So you don’t get your money back? They can just deactivate?
Was it this: https://www.psacard.com/cert/110393875/psa

apparently yes, since it doesnt qualify for the guarantee in that case. although i figure op’s might be more on the fraud thing so they will just reactivate it when u send it in. although… the other possibility is that it can be one of those cleaned cards that has started to disintegrate from the kurt juice
anyway you shouldnt buy a card with a deactivated cert. in my case i bought it when it was active and they deactivated it months later

I know someone purchased a slab in the low 4 figures that was deactivated (card was fake, psa incorrectly graded the card) but the buyer was refunded the full purchase amount. That was eBay though so I’m unsure if the guarantee would apply here.
Sorry I couldn’t help any more, hope this gets resolved.

Do you know if the cert was deactivated before or after he bought?
I’ve had a few of my cards certs deactivated due to people using the cert numbers for fakes. All scenarios were reactivated or given new certs after re-verification. However the process was a headache.

Did you have to pay anything for the re-verification?
it goes through CRC which is free (they provide the label and cover return shipping). the process is extremely slow though
