PSA Case Wear/Frosting

Hey all! So recently while I was doing some scrutinizing of my PSA graded cards, I noticed some of my older graded cards are showing wear on their PSA cases. I’ve heard about the “white frosting” that shows up when PSA cases have been tampered with and since I have never actually seen it myself, I don’t know what it entails. I can verify that my graded cards were not tampered with and have been stored in protection in a drawer out of natural/room lighting, so they are not handled much at all except when I take them out to showcase.

It is mainly older PSA cases (certs 2xxxxxxx) that have this “frosting” around some of the edges, so I was wondering if this is common in older cases or what the deal is?

Here is a pic to showcase what I am talking about:

Pretty sure the frosting is from how they seal the cases.

I’d say it’s common.

This is normal from the production of the cases. A tampered card will be extremely evident

Normal for those cases

Ok, thanks! So its just the different design of the older cases that causes it. That’s good to hear as I was a little worried that I might need to get new cases for some cards.

I know there may be a stigma about the older cases not being as good as the newer ones, but as long as they do their job that’s all that matters to me.

All PSA cases are completely fine. Frosting would be an issue if there is enough to remove a card. Even if you went full paranoia, and thought your frosting was due to tampering, which it isn’t, there isn’t enough space to remove the card.

I have yet to see a genuine “frosted” tampered case in Pokemon. Even in sports they aren’t common.
