Does anyone have experience buying a PSA 10 card on eBay but then have it arrive with a large chip / crack on the slab? The card inside doesn’t look like it is tampered with but the damage to the PSA slab wasn’t disclosed.
Legitimate reason for a complaint / return or should I just accept it as-is?
Case by case basis. How easy will it be for you to get another copy at the same price
Depends.
Three things:
You can send a complaint to the shipping company.
You can send the slab to get re-holdered at PSA.
You can buy another one.
It is not that hard to get another copy at the same price. Relatively modern card with high volume.
How expensive it is it to get the slab re-holdered?
I’ve had one item arrive to the buyer with a large crack in the case that happened during shipment. The card was only around $150. When he mentioned it I asked if he would rather return the card or receive a partial refund of $25 to cover recasing and shipping fees to PSA. They accepted the partial refund and everything worked out well. If you have already told the seller about the cracked case and he didn’t offer any return or refund options, then I’d say you have a case for opening a return.
I think I will as it really affects the overall appeal of the card.
