PSA 9 Yellow Paint Chips?

Hey guys,

How do you guys feel about the front of cards having paint chips. I’m trying to wrap my head around it. I could be completely wrong but it seems like some people feel the back is weighed a lot heavier than the front when it comes to edges being graded.

This example is a PSA 9 Charizard and the first thing that caught my eye was this top edge.

I understand if the Yellow paint is straight, and you can see the Holo edge its OK. But once paint is being chipped off on the front, how do you feel that impacts the value/condition,etc

As a collector, how do you feel about the edge paint chips on the front of cards?

Not sure how to post a closeup image here, and you have to be logged in to see high quality photos, but heres an example

Rather have silvering than a holo scratch.

I’d rather have a holo scratch than silvering.

As you can see, it’s completely subjective. Either way a PSA 9 is a PSA 9 and I don’t see why this particular one should get more or less than the average 9.

I’d personally rather have minor whitening on the back as opposed to minor silvering on the front. I have no idea which one PSA considers more important when it comes to grading. But I wouldn’t mind this as a 9 (assuming the holo is nice), just tap the case until the top part of the card is slightly covered by the plastic holder on the inside lol.
