He is probably referring to the psa case having some scruff or scratches. Could just as well be buyers remorse but as a seller you don’t have many options on ebay apart from helping the buyer as much as possible.
Good luck!
I like buying cards with scratched up cases because sellers discount them sometimes and/or there’s less competition. A little bit of PlastX and everything is great.
I always say “case may have scratches.” Because it really does suck to receive a super scratched case. Nothing worse than when a PSA graded card arrives with no perfect fit sleeve, just thrown between two pieces of cardboard (not saying thats how you shipped it). The case condition really does matter, IMO.
Is “plate” a term used in other collectables? I’ve never heard it before either. If a buyer wants to do a return I wouldn’t fight it, they can just open an eBay case and force a return.
If you consider a 1000% price increase then a 20% pullback dropping, then yes. But in terms of price trajectory on a larger scale? Base Unlimited is still more expensive than at any point in history except for the last few weeks lol.
They have gone from selling at £5kish, to the two most recent auctions at £3200. So almost 40%. Not sure what else to call it other than dropping… correcting maybe?
I was just pointing out the fact that they are dropping after having like septupled in value. Within the span of a couple months, the card went from $800 to $6k to $3500k. To me, the most relevant consideration here is the fact that the card went from $800 to $3500 – that’s more than quadrupling. This is why I think it’s a bit inaccurate or at least misleading to say that the card is dropping. Even it goes down to $2k (which it very well might, maybe even lower) it’s still substantially more than it was in like September lol.
It reminds me of when Underground Sea went from like $120 to $300 seemingly overnight. Then it went to like $250 and people thought the sky was falling.
And FWIW, I still think $3500 is insanely inflated for Unlimited Base Charizard. I’m just pointing out that it hasn’t really dropped so much as the price has become somewhat less hilariously inflated.
It’s not misleading at all it’s factually correct. If the question was how has the card performed over the last few months then fair enough I’d take your point. Certainly not saying the sky is falling, just a correction is happening that a lot of us were expecting.
I’m saying that it’s misleading because the card never was actually $6k or $5k. Just because the card sold once or twice at $6k doesn’t make that suddenly the new price. Prices don’t change whenever a new sale happens. In my view, the card never was actually $6k. Just because one, two, or three idiot(s) bought the card at $6k doesn’t make the card worth that much.
But I understand your point – there weren’t enough idiots willing to buy the Charizard for $6k for the price to be sustained. That much is true, it seems like.
