Sucks that Meta’s Community Notes are region locked to the U.S., the comment sections on his IG and FB aren’t a great place to be if you have any situational insight (versus his “insight” haha).

The honour system went out the window a while ago as far as grading is concerned, IMHO. Someone recently had (possibly) 3 accounts here to shill fake disco holos and defend/authenticate a fake card in a real PSA case with a certificate to match, among other things. Balancing money and ego is more of a juggling act that way.
You’re 100% right about PSA 10/10 appeal, but I think the $ will come from someone trying to ride Logan’s coat tails and they really could care less about electric mice and some kid named Ketchup. CoroCoro might be a restaurant for all they know, type of deal.
To each their own of course, this isn’t judgement passed/absolutist speech on what a “true” collector is, it’s just a statement that $5 million+ would be the price someone pays more toward the algorithm and less toward a card. I do genuinely think this will sell for $5 mil.
I’d be happy to be proven wrong after the hammer drops, that’d be the ideal 1-2 to the Paul brothers this winter season, I guess all I want to say here would be that Pokémon means many things to many people and I doubt most everyone on this site will lose a wink of sleep should it sell that high. My .02 only.

Anyone taking bets? I’ll do 70 on $8.9M, 30 on $10.1M in case someone specifically wants this to sell for more than 10, and, hmm…I’ll do a few bonus chips on $6.7M.

Can we at least get the card in a new case before the auction? That one looks like it’s been to Iraq and back. For as cheap as it is to reholder, I’d imagine prospective buyers would view it more favorably.
Didn’t I see something about PSA now reviewing cards being reholdered?
I wonder if PSA would have the balls to downgrade the card back to a 9….

PSA is probably thankful that they haven’t received a reholder request. Imagine being the employee to accidentally damage a $5M card.

So far I’ve only seen it implemented on cards that are CLEARLY misgraded, while anything accurately graded or perhaps within a small margin of error retains its grade. It’s all been anecdotal hearsay; PSA hasn’t issued an official claim to my knowledge.
I’d be curious to see if any forum users have reholdered lately, as I’m probably sending in a couple of elder slabs soon myself.

We can disagree on this, but I envision that there is more than 1 collector out there who want to bid on this card and are willing to go higher than $5m for it. Maybe it will end up in the hands of an investor, maybe not, but I guess my point is that just because the majority of e4 knows it used to be a PSA 9 and so consider it such, doesn’t mean all of the ultra wealthy collectors out there feel the same way
