It really makes you wonder if vintage will be cheap in comparison when the millenials pass on. The next generations are so screwed for setting themselves up for a house, family, and retirement.
if u mean in 100-200 years yeah pokemans will likely be alot cheaper then if nintenders are even still being produced (and we’ll be long gone by then anyway
)
Not that long, I am talking 50 years from now, when the people who were kids when Pokémon launched are dying off.
100 years from now, we will definately be seeing decaying quality in cards from “restorations” and the breakdown of the plastics in the slabs. We see it already with repaired cards, scared to think what we will see as time goes on
$300 for damaged condition?! I am so happy that i didnt send you one for free out of pity years ago, also because i couldnt remember if i had one or two or what box it was in.
Keep your nose to the grindstone and youll eventually get one
.
Prices tanking. Get out now. I’ll help anyone out by purchasing any no rarity holos for the same price these last solds.
Prices may go up, prices may go down. The only thing you have control over is your own situation.

Wow, can’t believe that I missed these. Gut punch. What a deal. Someone gave those away for free essentially. Fantastic condition in any case, especially for 30 year old cards.
Prepare → Wait
This is what you must do for 99% of desirable cards in Pokemon. Get your finances in order, and then wait patiently for the right card to come along. Patience is toughest when you are young, but it will pay off manyfold as you get older.
The other 1% are impossible unless you are extremely wealthy and well-connected.

Who predicted prices will go down? Like yeah ofc they will at some point, markets are cyclical just look at some of the retraces after every pump that’s happened over the last 10 years. It’s taken this current pump that started around this time last year for some cards to hit new ATH from the covid pump after that retrace (eg. PSA 10 1st edition neo lugia went from multiple 100k-150k sales to 30k and sat at that for literal years).
That said, I don’t think we are at the top yet, not with 30th hype around the corner.
Hasn’t the 30th anniversary already come and gone? Not sure what you mean by around the corner. The partner AR cards have already been released in English, at least one series of them so far.
The 30th anniversary set doesn’t release until September.
What @A.P.Speeze said, the set like the previous “Celebrations” set is yet to come
I dont really understand the fixation on the 30th anniversary being a huge catalyst for growth. People love to compare it to Celebrations.. but the overall market started dropping slightly before celebrations even came out no?
Exactly, I find this kind of strange. The beginning of the 25th anniversary year (2021) was marked with printing shortages which were not really related to the anniversary but rather the boom that started in 2020 and the pandemic.
The set released before Celebrations was Evolving Skies, which is by many considered to be one of the best ultramodern sets, and this was available for MSRP (and even below) basically everywhere. Then came Celebrations and the set that followed right after was Fusion Strike, which at that time was pretty unpopular and could be found everywhere for way below MSRP.
Edit: What I forgot in the first place was that not only were these sets readily available but also the entire market slowed down a lot.
The point of the money being set aside is that you dont randomly use all of your check to buy mcdonalds, feetpics, or other impulse buys. If you put $50 a check thats $100 a month, $600 in 6 months. Thats not nothing. Maybe you cant buy some charbars or sunbreon/moonbreon/gengar, but there are now more options than before you had $600.
Trying to get a better return on your money in 6 months isnt the point of this. This is just a way to show collectors that they CAN afford higher end cards if they save for them. A lot of FOLKS see $$$ and give up without even trying. $50 is frankly pretty low to start saving imo. The point stands ![]()
Time flies incredibly fast. Member when 6 months ago evolving skies released!1 If you put $50 a check since then you could retire!
My thoughts around this are at the moment, there is a lot of hype in the market, there is a bullish feeling that cards are pumping because it’s the anniversary year (a contributer, not the sole cause). Even now cards are jumping literally thousands of dollars every week or two.
Markets are all about sentiment, prices move because of peoples emotions and feeling based on data that can affect the future, this is true for all markets. This is the anniversary year, there is the core anniversary set coming, so the hype and positive growth of the overall market imo shouldn’t slow until that marker has been reached.
Fwiw I don’t think that anniversary set is a catalyst for growth, I think it’s a logical point where cooling off makes sense and going into next year a pullback begins.
When storm emeralda comes out, I might as well forget it ngl.
People are holding rayquaza cards in preperation for this set and I expect the already record high cards I have to go even higher.
