Something something past performance is not indicative of future results
Really doubt this. The people who grew up with Pokémon were born between 1980 and 1995. They will probably live through the 2070´s. Even when most of them are gone, their children will have met these cards too. I think it will take up at least 100 years before there is a chance that interest will truly wane. Even then, it´s not anywhere near certain.
give me liberty or give me death
Quit ducking me man, where are my feet pics
I paid good money for those
There is a very solid chance that cards are 30, 40, 50% cheaper than they are now, in a few years.
You need to have a long long term time horizon, and keeping grinding up your collection/business so that when the time comes you have the funds to buy the things you want
well you also own rayquazas, so if all rayquazas get a boost from a modern set, then all ships ride the rising tide
50 years from now, the Pokémon 90s kids will be in the 80s and 90s, well past life expectancy. Its just a number, call it 60 years from now and 99% of 90s kids will be meeting the Lord
Not me, I’m going to live forever.
I think this only applies to a specific intersection of kids whose parents were well-off enough to buy them Pokemon consistently, and who actually stuck with it instead of hopping on other series/money sinks to get invested into.
Alternatively, the possibility is always there that it become a self-perpetuating investor market and the same dudes just keep selling back and forth to eachother until the sun explodes.
Reply incoming in 50 years. Reminder set. Assuming the servers are still going
True, but I do think that if Pokémon keeps growing, and I wouldn´t put that beyond them, that this matters little.
If I don’t reply, you can find me (and my collection) in the cryo unit next to Walt.
I’ve been playing some Gundam TCG online, started opening and building decks for Sorcery (great art).
The world is so big and full of wonder, dont stick on the blinders
I am getting into Graded video games ![]()
Number go up. Number always goes up, unless the entire hobby crashes. Never bet against number going up. Number may go down briefly, but it will eventually go back up. Predictions that prices would go down were pared with predictions that supply would go up or that things would be easier to obtain. The problem with that logic is it fails to consider that sellers sell when prices are high (unless they don’t have a choice) and, quite importantly, just hold when prices are low.
What now? Now you do nothing different. Grind. The grind will prove to you either a) this is really important to you, or b) it’s not worth it enough to you to keep on the grind. Then you exit the grind and go to therapy.
But you can’t prove it’s not important to you by not grinding.
Patience my young padawan.
Some cards have not seen the boom they saw during covid…
Some cards are far beyond what they were during covid…
Some cards have paused and gone up again…
Some times a year is just a blink of an eye…
Some times, an eternity.
Who said it would go down?
Well all the nay sayer commenters in the Gold star price tracking thread that has been a member here for 3 months or less of course.
