the recent ended PWCC auction shows a downward trend on the price for the Gold Star and Skyridge Charizard PSA 10. On the other hand, the Shadowless Charizard PSA 10 stay around the same price.
Do you guys see the Gold Star and Skyridge Charizard dropping even more?
Sorry if my question sounds weird or already discuss before.
I’m tempted to get a Gold Star Charizard but just not sure about the market for other high end set except for the 1st edition and shadowless base set.
Gold star charizard for a long time had stabilized around $3800, from May last year until March this year sales were always between $3600 and $4200. There were two this month that broke that trend going for around $5k, but one this month still sold at the usual $3800 mark. The one that sold today via PWCC for $3600 is still within the normal range that they’ve been selling at for over a year, though it was on the lower end of that range.
When you are looking at sales data you need to look at the bigger picture, for this card to be considered trending down it would need to break out of it’s range and have multiple sales outside it’s consistent median. Could this last sale be the start of a downward trend? Maybe. At the moment it looks like a low in an overall weak auction block, prices across all hobbies were down this block due to a number of potential reasons, more data points are required. At the moment it looks like normal market price fluctuations.
On the other hand crystal charizard is a card that had been on a downward trend, which was up until now starting to stabilize around $2000-$2500 … this $1700 sale is it’s lowest that I can see in almost a year. The last six sales were all over $2000, this one could just be an outlier due to the issues PWCC are having at the moment as well, the next couple of sales will be telling of where the card is at.
As for your question, I don’t see the gold star going below $3k, the crystal could definitely drop more though, it’s quite common to pull from packs and there are 153 PSA 10s vs 73 gold star charizards which alternatively are very hard to find in packs. I would buy the gold star, I don’t think it’s going to drop significantly if at all, you could wait and see on the crystal, there’s no rush on that.
The recent $5000 auctions for the PSA 10 Gold Star Charizards I believe were tampered with.
Like Pierce said, they were consistently doing $3500-$4200 all this year, and randomly two auctions end above $5000 (when other copies were listed at cheaper Buy Now prices).
PWCC listing the next PSA 10 auction, untampered with and more organic, ended at the standard market pricing.
Yeah looks like the consistency isn’t there. You need more to go off of. Every once in a while you have an outlier but those are also likely to be tampered with people trying to manipulate the price. Group it into the data for a period of time if you want but you will find the average in a more reasonable range as said above.
