I recently acquired an impressive collection of Topps Series 1 Foil Cards. It contains 69 of the 76 Pokemon Foils, and none of the TV foils. All 69 of the foils are from the 3rd print of Topps Series 1. I believe these cards are in fantastic condition. I have a lot of experience and knowledge about the Pokemon TCG, but I know next to nothing when it comes to these Topps cards. Additionally, their sales data is minimal–especially when you break things down by the different prints/foil patterns. I tried to do some digging on my own accord but there’s barely any eBay listings or recent sales. I had a few questions that I was hoping some forum members could help me with it:
- What is the approximate value of this collection ungraded (especially if I were to acquire the 7 missing 3rd print Pokemon Foils, and even all of the TV foils)?
- I have a very solid understanding of how PSA assesses the condition of Pokemon TCG cards, but nothing about how they evaluate Topps cards. What should I look for when trying to evaluate the condition of these cards? Additionally, at what point do they become worth grading/what is their value?
- From my understanding there were four different print runs–each with a different foil pattern–but are certain print runs more rare and/or more valuable than others?
