Premium for Swirls in holographics

Newer cards can have swirls too, although they’re a different kind of swirl. Here for example an SM76 Pikachu from my collection with a nice swirl:

Greetz,
Quuador

Thanks. I think I’ll take some time and see if I have any. I have a bunch to go through for sure so I might be able to get a grasp on rarity.

I went through a few stacks of Base 2 (most ungraded) and found 36 with a swirl. Those were complete swirls. There were many with partials. I guess not that rare eh?

That swirl is actually really cool, I should start looking at my holo cards more closely.

Lets link it back to this thread lol: www.elitefourum.com/t/god-tier-swirls/24047/1

I do not believe that holo swirls should add a premium. Do they? I think there are some people, as seen in this thread who will pay a little extra.

While there are many people on IG hyping up swirls as well, lets acknowledge that plenty of Youtubers go out of their way to mention thme too :stuck_out_tongue:

Dude imagine a holo bleed swirl around the 1st ed stamp. I’d pay at least a 1.69$ premium for that. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

If we’re all buyin’ cards because we like how they look, the premium for swirls make a lot of sense to me!

I think they’re cool when they interact with the art. This Ho-oh’s so stylized, the swirl feels like it’s part of the art.

Can a mod (@milhouse, @fourthstartcg, @woolsluk) clear up where we should be posting? We have two of the same discussion going on. I posted in the original discussion, but this one is still going on. @teamrocketop mentioned this previously. Can we close one discussion to leave the other open? No offense to the original OP. Just want clarity on discussion input.

The threads are for different purposes. This thread is for discussing the value increase (or lack thereof) that swirls impart to a card. The other thread is for posting card of your own (or ones that you find) which have a really nice swirl. As they have different objectives, there’s no need to close one discussion.

No offense but I think two different threads are justified. This one is for discussing if they swirls should fetch a premium, the other is for posting pics of swirls.

Sure, we could fuse them together because they’re not *that* much different. Then again, there are like 15 threads each month about “1st Edition Shadowless Charizard” that more or less are the same thing and they are all allowed to live until they die naturally.

On topic: I agree with @gareth . Every single price in Pokemon (and every other collectible) is a result of subjective valuation based on individual preferences. And if someone wants to pay a premium for swirls because he/she really likes them, why not? Nobody is forced to buy swirly cards at a premium if they don’t want to. It’s not my business what other people spend their money on.

EDIT: @fourthstartcg beat me to it.

@fourthstartcg , @muk , Looking back at my post you are correct. I was a bit stressed about my personal work earlier today and I think I let it affect my posts terseness.

I posted in the other thread, but since I did want an opinion on price and in general if this has been seen before I think it should go here. I was not aware the swirls could be so close together on cards.
