This is gonna sound a bit crazy, but last night I had a dream in which I learned of the true source of Japanese Base no-rarity cards
Could it possibly be that these cards all came from the “yellow” Gift Pack box set? I’ve personally never opened one of these, so I have no idea what cards were originally inside. However, the time at which they were released coincides with the time the no-rarity cards are thought to have originated.
Also, it might make sense given that the cards in the later Quick Starter Gift (aka “red and green” set) also lacked rarity symbols (unlike the vending machine cards on which they were based).
Perhaps this has been discussed before, but II did a search of the forums, but couldn’t find anything related to this idea.
Would love to hear everyone’s opinion!
EDIT: Added the word “never” (in bold) because I forgot to type it the first time!
Nah unfortunately there is a thread about this. Someone opened the gift set. Ill copy the info here in a sec. Different printing dates. I had a dream in september i opened no rarity cards, and it erm was wierd because 2 weeks later roughly the booster box showed up on ebay. short pack one lol.
Just to clear things up, the cards in the two decks of the first Gift Set DO HAVE rarity symbols. A friend
From another thread on another site:
opened one deck to finally confirm this. It´s a false rumor. The Gift Set was released on December 12th, 1996 while the base set was already released on October 20, 1996.
The first run of the cards (those without rarity symbols) were probably sold out already by then, so there´s no way any could´ve made their way into the gift set.
Has anyone actually opened up a short top pack at all? I still feel they might be the key to all this, if decks were released at the same time then it would make sense that the decks that were printed at the same time also contain no raritans and the fact that they are more expensive to purchase means they likely sold less quickly and as a result serve as a more likely to be found source of the cards later on, purely based in the demand for decks over packs. Just a theory I can’t get away from.
I think that the short packs do have them, but not all of them. Chances are very low that the short packs will have dem. I was discussing dis with someone, and they gave me a detailed insight into why some boxes would have them, and some wouldnt.
The first print run was definitely the decks and the short packs… They have to be in the decks for sure, though it is that same situation were the chances of you getting a deck or a short pack with them is so low… which drives me nuts. This guy wants 20kusd for the box, but I would like to give him 10k, though he wont budge.
Yeah I have bugged him so much, he wont open 1 pack for me. I even offered give him like 2-3k if he opens the box and opens 1 pack… BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
no photo evidence as listing was like 5-6 mopnths ago, but this guy is a sealed pack collector, and I take his word for it. BUt even he said there would be like the slimest chance of no raritan.
YET HE DIDNT FILM IT, AND THE PHOTO EVIDENCE WAS HORRIBLE… SO I WILL SLAP YOUR SOURCE BOI… who in hell in 2015 doesnt film this crap… I will throw things.
And yes actually, there isnt confirmation, but there will be when someone films the dam opening with one that has no rarities, and i guarantee you there is short packs that have them, the only problem is the chance of them having them is 0.1 percent, just like with the decks… However I have more information about why they would be in short packs, and why they wouldnt, but I cant really share deese infos, because the person would not want me to, and id be betraying trust ect Its just a speculation about media factory and why they would have put dem in short packs, it isnt concrete, is just a really good theory is all i can say.
If anyone would like to enter this venture with me one day, feel free to pm me, because this mystery has to be solved, and my dream is going to come true, whether it be from a booster box, or from the decks… The only way to find out is to invest in every one that turns up, and you see the short packs have been sold to sealed collectors for 350-700usd each, so It would be a slow process finding people to buy them, but I will get mi monies back if i did the things.
This is unsettling.
A friend and customer told me he has colleagues who have used card restoration to remove ink from the cards like symbols. He’s Japanese and deals in sword sales and restoration.
it would leave a pretty bad mark though. And there is multiple listings i have saved of the decks with no rarity damaged cards all around them. I dont think those people who listed these cards would have removed the symbols or have any knowledge like that. But more importantly, the japanese peeps new about these ages ago. And they advertised the picture of no raritans fopr the original japanese release which is on bulbapeediaz to below:
Can he show us a picture of what a card would look like or actually confirm he can remove the symbol without damaging it.
You would have to give him a Normal japanese mint base set card, and see what it looks like when its done. I doubt it would be mint still.
Apparently an unknown source has seen it being pulled from a deck, but i have searched long and hard for this video and i cant find it anywhere.
Mi face right now
More importantly garinson, it is not just the rarity symbol they would have to remove. They would need to replace the ink with different weight, height ect. As no rarities have more then one error.
