Yeah! I’m glad I’m not crazy about PSA. Currently trying to track down NM + common and uncommon replacements for few of my sets. Luckily that hasn’t put too much stress on my wallet, ha ha. Want to knock out all of the commons + uncommons (unlimited) so I can focus on the rares and above.

Ohh, that’s good! I’ll be honest, I am not that crazy about PSA either but the issue I’m starting to run into is that the supply for more expensive cards in raw conditions are more or less tapped out, and the swing between grades are too big to risk. A grade point difference between two grades can swing a card by a few hundred dollars making it very risky to buy raw now =/
I would aim for rares first because I’ve noticed the common/uncommon market prices never swing too much…the rares/holos on the other hand…oh my…
That’s veryyyy true. It’s hard to find good raw NM+ ultra rares now that PSA is such a huge part of collecting. I’m fine if raw cards in my binder have a few flaws to them, since I don’t plan on ever grading or flipping them. When I buy PSA I want a guarantee. I don’t see myself grading anything in my collection at the moment.
I’ll keep an eye on the rares, but I definitely want to fill my blank common and uncommon spaces. Feels strange that I don’t have some cards that are less than 25 cents.

Yup, that’s exactly the same way I collect too Unfortunately I deal with higher end cards so almost all of them end up being better for PSA. However, 95% of my collection is in binders.

Hello everyone! Don’t have much in term of photos in this post, it will be mostly text. Sorry if that’s boring, but hey, that’s gonna be my post.
Soooo I went through my collection, Base-HGSS Call of Legends and took out every card I found to be unsuitable for my new collection standards. The biggest reason I purged many of the cards were heavy scratching. Curse you 10 year old me!!!
I want to aim for having NM/M cards only from now on. Quality over Quantity. A lot of sets that were complete are now sitting at 70% ish after the purge. Already I’m so much happier with the direction my sets are heading. Having good condition just… feels good.
Before I left for spring semester at college, I was able to make a list of needs from Base to Neo Destiny, so for the next few months, I’ll be tackling those sets.
My main goal has been to get all of the common uncommon cards in NM/M condition before moving onto the rares, and then holos. I like this approach since it gets lots of slots filled, and lets me focus on rares and holos without worrying about commons/uncommons. IDK it just feels right for me. : D

Hello everyone! I’m really excited to announce I’m back! After a long hiatus, I’ve decided to delve back into the realm of pretty, shiny cardboard. After seeing the recent hype around Pokemon, it reminded me how much I love this hobby, and how much I missed it! In my hiatus, I got really into collecting scale anime figurines and anime garage kits (giant weeb alert) If anyone wants to know how to buy anime figures and rare anime garage kits on Yahoo Auctions, Suruga-ya, and Mandarake, let me know!
The majority of my collection resides in Michigan at my parent’s house. Currently, I live in LA in a tiny studio apartment. (Living the dream!) My mom was kind enough to send a few binders my way. It feels really good to be reunited with a small portion of my collection!
For anyone who’s new, let me summarize my collection goals, and what I want to accomplish with collecting!
I’m one of those insane people who collects cards meant to live in binders. I have a very small graded card collection, but I like my cards in pages rather than in slabs. My goal is to collect master sets ranging from Base to Vivid Voltage. For me, a master set includes every standard, reverse, and alternate variant. I love collecting a large variety of cards and learning about the many holo varieties and odd stamped cards. I want my collection to feel like an encyclopedia, however crazy and expensive that goal may be.
Currently, I have my Ex Dragon Frontiers, Skyridge, and POP series binders in Los Angeles. So, I’ll be tackling these sets in the upcoming months!
Ex Dragon Frontiers is one of my favorites, so I have decided to make this set my first target.
Today I purchased all of the uncommon and common cards I’m missing from the standard set, so those should start trickling in sometime next week. Also, I purchased a copy of the Professor Program Professor Elm’s Training Method. This is one of EX Dragon Frontier’s alternate variant cards. Really excited to have a copy!
I’ll be sure to share photos once the cards arrive!
After I get these cards in, I’m going purchase the non-holo Rares I’m missing. Then, head over to Ebay to track down the remaining Holo Rares and Ultra Rares.

I’m excited to share a collection update!
Since I last updated this thread, completing EX Dragon Frontiers (again!) has been my biggest acomplishment. This is the standard set with the two variant cards, the Prerelease Dragonair and the Professor Elm Professor Program variant. I do have the World Championship cards, but they are currently in storage in another state. (Where the majority of my collection is, lol)
I say again, since around 2017-2018-ish I went through my collection and purged a bunch of MP-LP cards. Dragon Frontiers got a 'lil nuked in the process. While 99% of my collection is raw cards, I want them to be in the best condition they can be! Finding nice copies of cards makes the hunt more exciting.

I got caught up in bird-related shenanigans and purchased my very own Cock of the Rock. Proud to have this in my collection!
I’ve also been dipping my toes back into Japanese modern! My other addiction is anime figures. When I place a proxy order I like to throw in a Pokemon box or two. Though, from here on out, I’ll be POing all of my boxes from Amiami. I order the majority of my figurines through their site, so it saves on shipping.
I got one box of Single Strike Master, and another box of Rapid Strike Master! They were purchased from the Pokemon Center, so I got the Rillabloom and Cinderace promos too!

I had so much fun opening these packs, and I’m excited to open future sets! I might work towards completing them if proxy fees don’t completely destroy me. The Japanese cards just look so good.
Earlier I mentioned that I purged a lot of LP-MP cards. My goal after selling these cards was to purchase them in better condition. But, due to life and other hobby distractions, I’m just now revisiting this goal. Some of these cards have definitely stonked, but hey, if that’s the price I’ll have to pay, I’ll work for it. It’s been very fun to hunt down these cards. I get to appreciate and revisit memories behind each card!
My biggest pick-up so far has been this Secret Rare Charizard from EX Dragon!
EX Dragon is very special to me, since it was my first set. My first cards were from the Salamence Ex Dragon theme deck. Charizard was my first exposure to Pokemon through the 3rd movie. Charizard vs. Entei? How could I not love that? I’m so excited to have this card back in my collection! This card was purchased from @nickofturl Thank you so much!!!
I also have a copy of Charmander and Charmeleon, so the trio is complete again!!!
And on the topic of other EX Dragon related purchases, I picked up a State Championship variant Charmeleon from EX Dragon. I’m still waiting for the seller to ship the card, but I’ll be sure to share photos in the next update. I really want the whole line of stamped variants, especially of course, the Charizard.
And last but not least, here’s some graded stuff! I don’t have a lot of graded cards, since I like my cardboard raw, but I’m not opposed to picking up the occasional PSA 9!
This is my current PSA collection that I have on hand. My most recent pick-ups are the Kecleon and the Porygon cards. I got them from PWCC Auction! Kecleon and Porygon are some of my favorite Pokemon, so these were a must buy for me.
The Dark Charizard I purchased back in the early days before COVID. I got it at a coin convention in Long Beach last year for $35! I was planning on trading it for another card or selling it to make money for hobby stuff, but damn it, I’ve grown attached to it. This card was purchased on my B-Day weekend. During that weekend, I took my first solo vacation, where I did some pretty cool stuff like reserve my first hotel room and plan my own itinerary. This Charizard has become attached to that memory, so it’s not leaving my collection anytime soon.
The Charizard EX was a graduation gift from my parents, so I’ve had it for a couple of years now. That Charizard EX was my Childhood chase card. My parents got me a copy for Christmas, and I played that card to death as a kid. I still have that HP copy, as well as a raw NM copy, but this PSA 9 copy means to much to me! It’s easily one of my favorite cards.

Instead of using my lunch break to eat, I decided to update my collection thread because I am very smart.
I wanted to share where my collection is atm, because I’m very excited and I love this hobby! I have some fun goals I’m working on, and I’m making some good steps towards my ultimate master set goal!
In a week, I’ll have the rest of my collection with me! 99% of my collection was in storage at my parent’s house. My mom is visiting next week and she’s going to drop it off. I’m so hyped!
Spreadsheet!!!
In preparation of having my full collection in my grubby hands, I have been working on a Master Set SpreadsheetThis spreadsheet is still a work in progress, (Still need to add sets, still need to do all the percentage math, eww) but it’s going to help me accomplish the following:
All of the info entered in the Spreadsheet atm is directly from Bulbapedia, and doesn’t have that extra level of research yet. I want this spreadsheet to be the ultimate master set collection spreadsheet! That means I want it to include every legit card variant too! In the future I want this resource to be something I can share with other Master Set collectors. Binder gang
Right now, the spreadsheet has a column for both standard sets and master sets. I’m going to add another column for master set + variants, since there are some variants that are very very limited. Maybe I should call it a God Set? IDK, but I’m open to suggestions.

**Dumb Goals!!!**Do you ever really love a single card, and you suddenly want way too many copies of that card? That card for me is Imakuni?'s Doduo. I pulled the OG Japanese card as a kid and became obsessed with it. I had no idea what it was, but I knew it was something special. It was always card #1 in my childhood Ultra Rare binder, even over the Crystals and Gold Stars. A card that tells you to throw it and sing? 10/10.
Evolutions may not be the highest tier Imakuni?'s Doduo out there, but I can get a lot of them. I currently own 61 raw copies of the card and as of making this post, I own 1 graded card, and 2 currently in the shipping void.
But, how can I make this goal of owning way too many Imakuni?'s Doduos even sillier?
You’ve heard of collecting sets, you’ve heard of collecting grades, but, what if I collect grading companies?
My new stupid goal is to have a graded Imakuni?'s Doduo by every company that grades Pokemon cards. That includes all the big bois like PSA, CGC, and BGS, but I want all of the small weird ones too. Give me all the self grading services. Give me the weirdest labels. I need it.

Bow down before my German 1st Edition 5.5 Water Energy. Never have I added a more valuable and historic card to my collection. With an incredible Surface 6 and Corners 5, this card has become the grail in my collection.
