Pokemon Trading Card Game Classic Looks Amazing!

Need two credit cards registered just to apply for the lottery…

Edit: Maybe Pokemon Center Japan just doesn’t like my credit card anymore

Call me a hater but making people participate in a 35,000 yen time-limited lottery on an untested, not even yet fully revealed new product, more than 6 months from release seems manipulative as hell to me.

The concept of a version of the game that you can play forever is ludicrous too especially when they chuck in a number of incredibly popular to collect cards.

I’ll back out of this one. Hope this works out for people but I feel this is something of a jumping the shark moment.

I guess reprints from anything Neo and beyond would just be asking too much.

a bunch of new cards were revealed for this. it continues to be a strange arrangement of cards

Another day, another PCJ Lottery L

Am I really gonna have to pay $500 for this thing on eBay now?

Anyone else feel like this is just boring and unimaginative? I love base set as much as the next person but so many reprints. I’m far more excited about the nagaba Eeveelutions promo set! I probably will skip this unless the price is very reasonable

I agree, my first tought about this was lazy. And people is already paying 400$ for preordering this set 6 months in advance? What the hell are people on lmao

The craze for plastic encapulation partly is to blame. Can easily pay $400 for the box, grade every card, and still make money.

Supply and demand also plays into it

I’m still hopeful for the reimagined artwork. The abra line looks great imo!

Call me a genwunner but goodness those holographic Kanto starter lines look magnificent! And a HOLO Lt. Surges Rattata?! Cmon that’s just awesome, I can’t wait to see what else is included.

For sure! The grading aspect plays a huge roll and the flipping/specualtion. I can almost gurantee that people buying it for 400 already is not going it so they can open the packs and put the cards in the binders

Every time I see the Chansey I smile

I think the Mewtwo is absolutely stunning. My favorite so far. I hope the English ones looks passable

I understand people’s gripes with seeing more base set reprints, but personally I don’t really care – it’s a really nice looking, portable game board with beautiful promos. I like it a lot. But I $275 like it… I’m not so sure I $500 like it…

whats a crazy purchase to one may not be to someone else. Pokemon is full of purchase decisions that don’t always appear sane or logical. Singles gang tho

Mewtwo does look really really good

I also like the Charizard and Pikachu a lot.

Random trusted eBay Japanese seller: “that’ll be 2000$ for those three… and I’ll throw in Iono for an extra 1200$

Me: “yay affordable modern!”

Passive aggressiveness aside, I’ll probably scoop up some singles if they are decently priced haha

All I really care about are the ones playable for custom draft like Professor Oak, Computer Search, etc. (even if remade as supporters). Please please let English be holo.

The rattata was the stand out to me as well! I was like am I weird thinking it’s one of the better looking cards. :rat:

Regarding the lottery sales of the “Pokémon Card Game Classic” that you applied for, we regret to inform you that, as a result of a strict lottery, you were not selected.

I knew what to expect and am disappointed nonetheless. Did anyone manage to get one?

I really just want the peripherals of the product (playing board, damage counters, etc), so I can have a nice “time piece” setup for my WOTC decks to go along side the Pokemon Center chess set
