I am passionate about researching pokemon tcg niche things, whether it be toys, or game accessories, so i am making a spreadsheet for all of them, marking the release date, what the item was (Box sets, and stuff), and what it included.
I was working on this for about a week, then i decided to go in a completely different direction with it. Im starting with gen 1, then moving to the next.
Yeah, I can share the early deck information I have. Its probably around time I make a dedicated informational post for decks. @Soda_Eesti what information are you looking for on the deck details?
@azulryu Didnt pichufan have an impressive list with barcodes and lots of detailed information about early release pokemon items. I remember being massively impressed that someone was digging through the webarchive to fill in item barcode releases barcode by barcode before the forum revamp. Not sure if anyone has a copy of it nowadays since it was a passion project several years ago.
i dont really need any deck information, really im just using info from bulbapedia first, im just making a spread with every product with toys, dmg counters, mats, coins, dice, sleeves, etc, as they count as accessories. If u have something not on bulbapedia maybe that :// but i dont assume you do.
Yes but these were specific to items from Pokemon Centers so not sure how useful it would be since it seems to be TCG specific and not non-TCG items. Figured you know what kind of accessories are included in decks like coins, toys, counters, etc.
There is ONE thing you could help with tho- do you know if the rocket decks had a set list? and were the dmg counters and rulebook the same for all wotc?
Rocket decks included Advanced Rulebook, cardlist (rocket theme), meowth coin, cardboard damage counters, and I think a postcard for a magazine offer.
Cardboard damage counters were all the same for WOTC except I think later sets had updated copyright information on the area you punched them out from.
Rulebooks Version 1, 2, and 3 could be found in Base, Jungle, and Fossil. The Advanced Rulebook could be found Version 1 in Base2 decks (maybe later versions as well), and by Rocket decks Advanced Rulebook Version 2 was out.
This is a wide hobby filled with millions of collectors in search of unique things to collect. People collect things in this hobby that you’d never even imagine and the more niche and more specific the subject the more meaningful it becomes. Someday somebody is going to be looking for exactly this kind of information. They will be scouring the internet for even a scrap of data from anyone else in the whole world who cared about it as much as they do. They will become demoralized. They will think their goals are impossible because nobody else ever cared to write something down. Then they will find your information.
The rarer and more specific the documentation, the more valuable it becomes to preserve. I think a lot of people here can attest to experiences where one random person’s forum post or 2000s fan site was the only place on the internet where they found what they wanted to know.
Your work is and will continue to be important to people.
