Recently been playing a lot of Breath of the Wild with my daughter after work, it’s a beautiful looking game and this new Pokemon Legends looks very similar. Can’t wait to try it out with her i am sure she will love it too!
I’ve not been able to pay much attention to it but that game at the end looks awesome! My only concern is that it seems very reminiscent of the early Sword and Shield trailers - I was expecting Sword and Shield to be this big open world game with a lot of freedom but that was very watered down in the end product. I’m hoping they stay true to what they’ve shown here.
I’m hype AF. That intro was amazing, they did a great job capturing all the unique aspects of Pokemon through the years. Legends Arceus seems to be what we all have been waiting for, can’t wait to see more as its developed. I’ve also never played DPP so I’m excited for BD/SP.
So, I just watched the trailers for BDSP, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Ehhhh. I know a lot of Zoomers are hype about this, but I am not convinced these games will be as large a leap forward for the Pokemon franchise as BOTW was for Zelda.
I’m interested to see how opinions develop over the coming months, but I will remain cautious until I lay hands on the game. Pokemon has burned us too many times in the past with odd, odd omissions/additions to their games.
Pokemon Legends Arceus is the closest the series has ever gotten to my “dream game,” so I’m super excited for that. HOWEVER, the graphics were painfully rough and the environment needs to be much more fleshed out to create a convincing world. This wouldn’t bother me if the game wasn’t set to release in “Early 2022,” which gives Game Freak only 12 months to not only complete the game, but also add that extra level of polish that similar games like Breath of the Wild are so full of. GF is more than capable of delivering a phenomenal final product, but their recent output unfortunately hasn’t reflected this, so I’m being cautiously optimistic for now. Everything else looks great!
Such a great presentation. Snap news, DP remakes, and having a open world spin off game keeping with original game mechanics what’s not to love? I hooe everyone enjoys whatever of these games they pick up!
I’m also cautiously optimistic about the Legends game! I’ve seen a lot of people talk about how the game’s animation is rough, or laggy but to me the animation actually looks like it’s purposeful and more of a design choice than it was in SwSh.
Most of the character animation in SwSh, for both the humans and pokemon, were straight up copied from the 3DS era. This time it looks like they thought of creative ways to overcome their shortcomings in the animation department.
For example during the fight here:
or Chimchar’s animation here:
With what looks like smoother animation for “older” pokemon:
I did notice frame-rate drops during the presentation, but that could be down to the stream as well as general hardware limitations. I guess all I’m trying to say is, I much prefer design choices over attempts at “traditional” animation that’s poorly done. Either way excited to revisit the Sinnoh region
Even if legends isn’t good, I’m so relieved to see that they’re listening and trying to make changes. The main series games were going down a worrying path imo.
