Saran Wrap is the best option, it’s cheap and creates a small layer of protection against bumps and leaves 0 sticky residue and can be paired with tape for that extra protection without the tape ever touching the card or toploader.
I was with you till the last sentence:) the Saran Wrap seals itself just fine w/o tape.
