Paypal's G/S Protection Changes July 31st. May hurt..

Saw this on facebook regarding Paypal dropping seller’s protection for items “intended for resale” in July.

Maybe some hope

Yikes! Better hope you have an Amex

Sounds like they are trying to no longer cover Paypal transactions done outside eBay

Don’t think it will even matter for Ebay… Correct me if I am wrong but july 15th sellers have to be on the new ebay manage payments system. Paypal will no longer be the site that is paid. The buyer pays ebay and then ebay deposited in your account

That is news to me! Is that only for accounts with an eBay store, or every account including grandmas?

Bigger picture here, what is going on with all the policy changes recently? Seem like the past 1-2 years has been a significant down hill devolution for sellers… and there wasn’t much there for them to begin with

Just coincidence that 1-2 years ago there was a big management swing to a much more liberal style. Ever since, the results have been glaring bad:(
I personally quit listing there last year and only sell 1 thing a month.

What alternatives are available?

I know you do F&F, but how do you feel about cashiers checks? I don’t want to take F&F as a seller because that prevents tracking uploads and allows the buyer to more easily reverse a payment.

ugh its hard out here for a pimp

I select my buyers very carefully (like you lol).
95% are private or personal sales. That same percentage is family/friends. I usually offer guaranteed delivery anyway so g/s is of no benefit. I just deal with good people who often can’t afford to take a hit so I won’t let them:)

That is why Gary is King Pokemon. With the top class service.

The new paypal policy change is going to open things up to more scammers with all the money they make not sure why they can’t just properly protect transactions.

With the ebay payment shift I don’t think to many people will be hesitant to abandon PayPal when a decent alternative comes along.

With the eBay change it sounds like the sellers are still going to get paid the same amount and everything, so what is the negative impact for a seller? And doesn’t eBay own PayPal? Then why on earth would they cut them out of the transaction here?

They split about 5 years ago

Really? Did not realize that. Wonder how PayPal feels about all this then

PayPal has been preparing for this for quite a while and as a company is in a much better position than Ebay.
