Paradise Resort selling for double to triple previous worlds participant promos

At first glance this also doesnt include those working in the Activity Zone (Play Lab), Pokémon Center and outside the main hall.

I don’t expect the PC workers to be getting Staff promos, but a bunch of the others might have.

It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s closer to 1000 staff total that received promos.

I recently bought some of the packs on my own but already at a much lower price compared to what was paid and offered during the tournament itselt. The prices in € range from 999 to 1150 and it feels quite right for me taking into consideration that this was the first worlds Promo from a WCS in the motherland of Pokemon

I think that some of the hype comes from the fact that many believe that this promos are rarer that they really are…

And if it is true that there where around 1000 staff members, we are talking of about 4000 STAFF promo cards hitting the market sooner or later.

Probably prices will cool down in the next 3-6 months.

I’ll add that, while it’s subjective, I think most would agree the art this year was pretty good (certainly better than last year’s).

I bit the bullet and bought a pack for €1150.
Adapting to the new reality hurts a little though.

Counted around 270 faces on the pic before I stopped, so let’s add ~ 10% for the faces I missed → 300 and add another 100 for the short kings / staff in the back

Like @smpratte mentioned earlier, I don’t get why people assume that every staff member wants to sell all their cards?

It’s true that not all staff members will sell all their copies. But, probably, a high % will sell all except 1 copy.

So lots of potential copies hitting the market in the next months. Only personal opinion.

A huge portion have already sold off at the event because most of them frankly don’t know how to sell.

Good intel regarding the staff version. What about the participant promo packs? How many participants were there in total?

There were 256 VGC players, 348 TCG players, 108 PoGo players, and 140 Unite players.

852 seems like a rediculous small amount if all players just get one pack.
Almost half the amount of estimated STAFF cards (400x4)!

I actually liked last years staff a little more :grimacing: All i see is Lapras.

I do want this promo, however. I’m almost there!

Good point @pfm though. I bet a lot of collectors from all over had a chance to purchase the promo while in Japan.

Most NM/Mint worlds STAFF cards are selling for 300-500$ range. This one around 800$. It’s not that crazy especially since it just came out and the demand.

It seems a little crazy when mint 9s of older staff promos have sold for less. Either these are overpriced right now, or the older worlds staff promos are severely underpriced. :person_shrugging:

Yea I’m not paying 850$ for the 2023 at the moment. I’ll pay 850 for an 05 or 07 though

I’ll share what I paid for the other just because I don’t really care if people know.

I paid around 80-140$ for all my champions festivals pre 2020.

Post 2020 overspending me:

2006-$850
2008-$400
2009-$425ish
2010-$500
2022-$500

I probably could’ve gotten 100$ or so knocked off some of these if I waited for a good auction, but it’s fun to hunt sometimes. Lol

Yeah that’s weird, wouldn’t that as you say make the staff card more common than the participant card?

Also if everyone get’s a pack with all languages are people collecting all languages of the participant paradise resort?

It’s worth remembering that Staff also get the Competitor bag each year (since 2019 at least anyway), including the sealed promos.

Even with a lower estimate of 400-500 Staff total, you are looking around 2000 Staff promos and around 1200-1400 Paradise Resort sealed packs distributed.
