I bought a $10k card and they declared it at $50 … all of my invoices from them have been multiple thousands and it’s never been more than a $50 declaration.
One time I was about to place a considerable bid for a PSA 10 gold star mew but I wasn’t able to get the bid through because of poor connection. Later to find out it was one of the world championship cards not the actual card. PSA really shouldn’t grade those.
Just once. Won an auction of two Rare Pikachus for 1.55k USD after a bidding war against two others. Now they are worth around 150-300 USD each…
And another time I was bidding up to 950 USD but at that point I gave up and lost (sold for 1.25k USD). Next one that popped up few days later I won for 850 USD. That same month ten more popped up with prices varying 500-800 USD because of the high prices these first two went for, and now the card is worth about 250-300 USD as well…
I overbid on some PSA 9 Japanese gym cards. However by holding on to them for 9 months I sold them for the same price I bought them for. A good learning experience overall.
I know exactly the feeling. First day getting back into the hobby, I must’ve been in some kind of ecstasy blinded state, I bid on a $5.99 auction for a non-psa krabby error card… Little did I know the error is almost unrecognizable and really nothing at all. Card is in played condition. Oh I paid $4 for shipping. I will keep this card until I die as a reminder to never rush into anything no matter how cool it initially appears. Oh I went to a flee market a month later where a guy had 20+ of the same card selling for $0.05 each in much better condition. sigh
I was going through one of my spreadsheets the other day and saw this, it’s kind of funny and reminded me of this thread.
This was 4-5 years ago and it’s an MTG card for those that don’t know. I bid more than I wanted last min and was a bit salty about overpaying when I won it as you can see in the notes column. The card is over $2k now and I still have it, seeing the sad face at paying $247 was pretty amusing.
