are you referring to a factory nick? lots of cards have a small nick at the apex of one or more corners from when the sheets are cut.
If it’s something else, and you’re getting all your cards from the same source, it might be something to do with how they were stored. Some stores just stack cards in BCW boxes without sleeves and NM can turn to LP p fast
Hi, thanks for the reply, silly really - I should have posted pictures. There’s three below, of increasing severity. I thought it was from the one supplier, but a different batch had the same, always in the same place! Though, obviously cards get worn in other places too.
How severe would the top/middle ones be punished in grading… or should I be asking in the master grading thread :S
It’s difficult to see the edge wear against a white background. That being said, I have a lot of gym heroes cards with no edge wear on the bottom left. As others have said it could be an issue with certain batches of cards when they were made
If they’re truly pack fresh and that’s the only flaw, 9s are not out of the question.
However I’m not sure where the damage came from if they’re from two different suppliers. I checked my Gym Heroes 1st Editions and they don’t have this nick. Seems to be some unfortunate luck on your part!
Yeah to be fair, the guy said that he opened a load of boxes (makes sense that they were from the same case/print run) if the machine was slightly worn out, it stands to reason as they were cut out of the sheet they all got nicked in the same place.
I’m still happy with the price I paid for them, and they are in nice condition ASIDE from that.
@pentagon, issa factory knick
if its minor and the card is otherwise clean it would still have a shot at a Gem mint grade if that was your goal. I would personally consider a card with nothing but a factory knick to be Mint
