Old Collection Help (Sealed Product, Full Sets, etc.)

So recently my sisters boyfriend found the mega load of his Pokémon collection from his childhood. I’ve confirmed it to be fully authentic but I really need some help on how I’m going to sell this stuff (the stuff I don’t keep that is). Anyway I’ll skip the story.

I found full sets of

1st Ed. Fossil
1st Ed. Jungle
1st Ed. Gym Hereos/Gym Challenge
1st Ed. Neo Genesis

EDIT: Also 1st Ed. Rocket lmao

and parts of Base Unlimited

Also

Lots of SEALED 1st Ed. Neo Genesis Packs

I also have bulk of ALL the aforementioned sets. I figured I should make some C/UC sets with the bulk which I’ve done. Does anyone here have any better suggestions though? Do I grade any of the higher value cards? Also how do I go about selling all the other cards that wont quite complete full c/uc sets? Will people buy partial sets?

I have no idea how to price these, many don’t have recent sold listings on eBay.

Also I have a couple 1st Ed. Blaine’s Charizard with the fighting Energy error, are these more or less valuable?

ANY help would be greatly appreciated. If this is the wrong place to be let me know, and I’ll change it, but I did do some looking so I think I’m right. I would have gone to Reddit but I’d probably get 50 PM’s for sales and I’m not ready for that yet.

Thanks again y’all.

I think you are going the right direction here. I think you are correct as most people don’t really want to go partial sets unless you are talking the full holos or common/uncommon of the sets as you mentioned. All the high value holos should be graded as long as they are in NM-Mint condition meaning 9/10. But people always surprise me, you may get people wanting to buy partial sets but more in sequential order. As for ethical reasons in my opinion, I would weigh the packs just to make sure they have been untouched. One of the E4 members made an app called Pokeprice and I try to give them credit though I have not used it yet, but it may help you get an idea what some of the cards are worth. Complete sets are pretty easy to find in sold listings on Ebay. Many members can help you too if you are concerned or have questions of condition, but its always GOOD to scan the cards for true condition cuz pictures can be deceiving depending on the light/angle/etc… Good luck
Edit: I mentioned holos to get graded but some commons/uncommons can be valuable too. I am sure some members can put clarification on this.

Congrats on the awesome find.

How are the conditions on the holos? You could grade the ones that can potentially get 10s and probably nines. PSA 9s from those sets aren’t very valuable though, and breaking up the complete sets would just be harder to sell the cards that you don’t grade

I would hold onto the Neo Genesis first ed packs. Or sell them as complete artwork sets, it should earn a bit more of a premium

Yeah I am just worried if I’ll be wasting my time grading if they don’t get 10’s. I’ll have to do deep dives into what cards I think are worth it I suppose. We did decide to open one pack just for nostalgia and acrually pulled a lugia lmao, was very exciting. Any insight on what to do with bulk? Also will cards grade lower if they are slightly warped? The cards are in good condition though. Also what commons/uncommons am I looking for haha.

Thanks! It is truly awesome. The holos range from LP to NM, mostly on the NM-M side though. You think it would be worth grading if I get 9’s still? And you think I should hold on to the packs?

Honestly, if you get about $0.50 per card when selling c/u sets that’s amazing. Don’t expect too much but it’s definitely better than selling as bulk for a couple pennies.

I don’t think I’d grade any holos unless they look absolutely flawless. The Neo ones in 9 might be worth it, but you will also have to replace the cards. From the condition you’re describing it’s best just selling everything as is.

Light warping doesn’t usually affect the grade but you should still flatten the cards.

How do I flatten cards? :confounded: I’ve tried with little help. Just used lots of books lol. Also okay, yeah I’m thinking of sending in all of the charizards and neo Lugia. Yeah I forgot to mention there is a full set of 1st Ed Rocket too lmao.

Yeah if there’s any of the big cards from the sets that could grade 9s and potential 10s, then you can send them in (dark/Blaine’s zard, Lugia, etc). But u will be breaking up the sets so it’s hard to sell the others

Also, choosing what to grade, sending them off to Scott and getting them back will take 3-4 months most likely. And you may not profit a ton, especially if none gets a 10

Sending them to Scott… Why would I do that. What is that lol. Like Smpratte? Does he do grading or something?
