They were cut when the blades were at their dullest so the run suffered. Fortunately the centering is usually great on them so they earn 9s…but rarely 10s.
I believe rusty has submitted dozens but never got a 10. I got quite a few but only because I collected them from the very beginning and have hundreds…though all possible 10s are graded already.
Right now, I have:
Electrode
Venomoth
Victreebel
Vileplume
‘Not Zelda Gilroy’ end me a email and let me know the details.
The Victreebel was bought from a friend. I graded the other three. Of the 80 cards submitted, every card pulled out of a pack got a 9 or a 10 (only 3 got 10s). All of my 8s & 7s were from Mint sets or singles purchased online. I got a complete 9 set of of the grading, being 6 away from a second set. I had a 10 card PSA 8 set as well, however that sold a few days ago.
Yes, I understand we’re talking about the American cards (though thanks for clarifying).
Back in my toy store days, we imported several cases of American boosters and decks, of which I still have many. That’s why I was wondering about them.
Yeah, no. I misunderstood every part of this discussion in terms of that. So that was my bad. Sorry, guys. Didn’t mean to veer the discussion off topic for my mistake. Thanks for the clarification though.
That auction description should raise some eyebrows.
The buyer claims to have been an “assistant manager” at WOTC at the time the error cards were produced, and that he bought a case of the cards. Is he implying that he bought the case knowing it contained the error cards? If so, then that means WOTC was aware of the error and went ahead with selling the cards anyway.
Yes! Gary, could you please let us know how we can tell. I’ve got some unopened WOTC boxes from my toy-store inventory. I’d love to know whether they are worth opening.
Also, does anyone know whether these no-symbol cards were limited to booster packs, or did they make their way into theme decks as well?
If you have a case (of 6) like that seller does and you open the case and one box, and that one is error, then it’s a very safe bet the other 5 boxes are no symbol.
Not that I’m aware of. I’ve bought these twice from sellers who had a case. My first purchase netted 100% of the holo packs being No Symbol. I have not ‘tested’ my second purchase yet.
Sure. One example that could pertain to this…We opened a case of what would come to be know as ‘shadowless’ boxes and there were 2 1st Ed. boxes in there. Even though that was 1999 it was still exciting cause you could still get 40.00 per 1st Ed pack;)
Another one that comes to mind is an odd base unl box direct from Wizards had only 7 holo packs instead of 12.
Well…you win some and you lose some;)
