I didn’t know we had a similar taste in Mewtwo banners, @smpratte!
This is one of the best things I’ve seen in the Pokemon/TCG sphere lately. It means a lot to see that news outlets in Japan are willing to come to the US to get a western person’s perspective.
Hopefully an efourian who speaks Japanese can add some subtitles lol! Thats so insane that they flew out and interviewed you! I would definitely watch that 4 hour interview, tho im doubtful ill ever get to see it lol
Great to see this,
makes me wonder something.
If interest in Pokemon is so big in Japan, how long will it take they expand to English sets?
Or will this never happen.
I see a clear shift towards Japanese in Europe, so can this happen also the other way around.
Language might be a barrier…
This is one thing I’ve noticed with Japanese journalism over the years. They tend to ask more intricate and interesting questions and in a more serious way, regardless of what is being discussed. I like that though because it shows that Pokemon and collectibles in general are increasingly gaining respect and acknowledgement as a more serious asset class. The rest of the video looks interesting, so it would be cool to see if it gets fully subbed at some point.
I’m sure some other more talented people are already on the case already but if I have time this week I can translate the parts that people want to know in English Maybe give post some timestamps and I can do my best. I’m not expert in either Japanese or translation but I can give it a shot for people.
Congratulations on the interview Scott! What a cool opportunity. Did the interviewers themselves enjoy Pokemon or are they just doing journalism on it?
Excellent work representing the hobby (as always) Scott! I bet the younger version of yourself in that photo would be amazed and proud to know the adventure was still alive all these years later.
When you opened the door and led them to your Patreon exclusive room, it felt like MTV cribs. Great video man. I told the girl from Taiwan about the video, and she said this was very impressive, and for them to come all the way over here is saying a lot.
