New PSA Labels W/ Second Barcode & Serial Number

Right…

Then I really don’t mind at all, and it’s definitely a good idea with good principle behind it.

I have about 17 cards with PSA now getting recased so they can match the rest (also so they’re in new clean cases that can be preserved. I’m indifferent a about the backs personally though.

Any changes to the fronts any time soon would definitely leave a bitter taste lol after going to relatively high expense, risk and hassle to get them updated to the current one. Especially if they’re upping the price of recasing too, would hate it if it was a ploy to make money and would definitely dampen my enthusiasm for PSA.

Great idea.

I hope this doesnt cause the older cases to become less valued. I have already had 1 person insist I get my card reslabbed before he would buy it. Needless to say he was blocked.

i was thinking that they should be subgradeds like beckets as i really like the beckets labals but i have all psa so no point in getting them over to beckets

I doubt it’ll ever happen. Beckett onky does subg grades on their BGS service. They have a BVS Beckett Vintage service for older cards which is just whole numbers. The only thing I’d like is a point system next to the grade report. Corner 8 card psa 9. Or psa 6 surface 5 so we know what was the big determing factor that dropped the grade

I like that:)

I think it’s a good change to improve the safety on the second hand market, it’s nice that there’s no other major changes in the design, this will just blend in with the other cases.
I am usualy anoyed by the changes they make to the cases because I want all of mine to look cohesive, so I will eventually re-case them all anyway once I complete my whole PSA collections (Shinings, Goldstars).

It says alot about the company for them to do this for The convenience of the people looking at listings on ebay.

Agreed, at least they are trying to listen what customers want. Very good change.

Small variations like of the cases like these are fine by me. Ive got some PSA 9 Crystals in the old cases, some in the new. Doesn’t phase me at all.

What would be nice though would be if they could stick to one format of labeling for each set. For example, I’ve got graded copies of Latios and Latias star, both Japanese. Once is labeled as Clash of the Blue Sky, while another is ex Deoxys (Japanese) or something. The mention of ‘gold star’ is generally very inconsistent too, sometimes at the top, sometimes bottom.

Don’t even know if this is the right thread for that, but that is my only real inconsistency irk.

yeah and things like 4th print they dont label them cards and wish they labeled base set unlimited and shadowless 1st edition i wish they put that in

@garyis2000 may know this.

When they hire graders, do they value existing Collectible Card knowledge in the hiring process? I know that if trained any grader should be able to grade any card. But I am wondering if they have ever hired someone because they have particular Pokemon knowledge.

Can I see examples of the 4 different variants?

There’s no prerequisite for card type knowledge for graders. A card is a card is a card.
Now the research department is different. General to specific knowledge is a plus but not mandatory. Being able to accumulate specific info either through searches or phone calls is a part of it. In the beginning a Japanese employee was kept on staff for translation as well as Spanish speakers. This was helpful in the early years of Pokemon. Plus, I was called frequently for info. This was done on a consultant basis because of my work in the hobby.

But one thing i dont get. How come they have specific grading acceptions for Cards that have silvering. A>K.A the only one i can think of - Jungle set. Gets psa 10’s if perfect but silvering der boi. I suppose they will alow one fault in psa 10’s and paSS IT if everything is mint, which is what I was thinking a couple of times. I’d like to hear your opinion on it though.

Don’t quite understand the question?

You are not the only one.

hmmmm I guess what Im trying to say is. how come they allow alot of psa 10’s on the jungle set with silvering, and none with fossil set and others. They must have some knowledge of the jungle set, or notes written down for certain sets, because jungle has so many silvering straight from pack.

I can see the good and bad of someone with knowledge on staff.

I’ve noticed the Jungle sets are worse than the Fossil.
Some silvering may still fit within the 10 parameters. They realize, cuts aren’t perfect and the foil just makes it stand out more and are identical to the non foil cuts. If they deducted too much based on cut then zero cards from the complete set would get a 10.
