This looks great! I wonder if they’ll do something that can cross over to other games. Like if you get to a certain level, if you take a good enough picture of a particular Pokemon then you get a ‘special’ version that you can transfer to Sw/Sh. Maybe a Mew, or just a normal Pokemon with a move it can’t learn otherwise.

I never realised Meganium was so massive.

It would be really cool if they did something like this… maybe a connection to Pokemon Home?

I agree it’s visual fidelity is much higher, and the animations much much better. That is almost certainly a result of the type of game allowing for it though. Instead of game balance, design, and larger free roaming areas you have a linear area with 2 loading zones

Incredibly hyped for this. Haven’t dusted off my switch since the Links Awakening remake. Shame Nintendo focuses so much on remakes like that, but if it sells it sells I guess haha.

I’ve already posted but I’m so freaking excited haha. I didn’t have any video game consoles myself as a kid and people never wanted to share so the main games I played were at a friend’s house nearby who had Snap and Collosseum on the N64 & game cube on the TV screen. All my nostalgic game memories are tied to those instead of Red / Blue (maybe another reason why I like Chansey so much cause I didn’t have any emotional attachment to a starter haha). Just imagining a lovely peaceful Sunday morning taking pictures of Chanseys frolicking in the sunset.

When I saw the first trailer I was hyped. Then I realized they had the same obsolete rail system that makes the adventure the same over and over again without any chance of exploration or whatever. I really hope that the rail system is not implemented and in 2021 you could actually explore an open world, but this being Pokemon maybe I’m asking too much and they prefer to redo a game that had tons of limitations and was only successful cos it had Pokemon in it.

The rail system might be what makes the game more easy to create. I imagine an open world concept would be very difficult to make and possibly make the graphics a lot worse. We all saw what open world sword and shield looks like. It also would standardize the game a bit more by having a rail system and allow people to play with the multiple combinations of shots, which might be hard to impliment if the player is given too much unlimited movement.

My guess is that you just can’t have it all. Do you want free reign with a downgrade in visuals and limited specialized shots or a track system that allows for the opposite? I would be more than happy with the latter since I still love the original game!
