New eBay scam?

Hi all -

Apologize if I’m posting this in the incorrect place.. Been awhile. Nonetheless, I’ve started to periodically list some of the cards I have left & been getting numerous:

“I have insta, message me @… Looking to purchase all your slabs.”

Is this some new scam or something? I don’t have a lot listed & have gotten 5+ messages very similar to this. Just seems odd, but I haven’t sold a lot lately.

Hope everyone is doing well,
Quinten

I’m low volume sales, about 5-10 items a week on average and I get this type of message maybe a couple times a month. I haven’t noticed a big uptick in these messages recently, but it might depend on what cards you’re listing. I’m not sure if scam, but at best they are lowballers. They usually want to buy a bulk amount at a discount. I usually just ignore them.

Depends on the person. Some of them are buyers for serious reselling operations. Lots are time wasters. Almost all are terrible communicators and negotiators. But sometimes the buyer on the other end uses pricing algorithms that are quite favorable if they let you pick and choose what to sell them. I’d recommend not counting them all out, I’ve done fantastic business with spam messagers from ebay. If you are low volume it probably isn’t worth the time to sift though the garbage to develop these relationships.

its against ebay rules to try to take transactions off site like that, report, block and move forward.

The scammer is always someone like this.

Yes they want to buy for 80% the most obscure auction prices possible
