Offers with questions on EBay listings

I don’t really sell on EBay but I’m parting with a lot of my collection. I keep getting offers with a message asking to text the person because they have questions. Is this the newest scam to get people off EBay or?

Not necessarily a scam. The person is probably going to say ‘I will pay you directly on paypal and we save and split the 10% ebay fee’ meaning they will most likely offer you 90-95%. You can negotiate.

Paypal invoice goods and service will offer you the same seller protection as ebay. Just make sure you don’t accept any friends and family payments, because that could be a scam.

@bitterfox, whatever it is, DO NOT TEXT THEM. This has happened to me and 2 friends of mine, as well as an alt account. They’ll ask some random question, then say “I’m in the army or marines or something and it’s a gift for x person, can you include a $200 visa gift card and basically just waste your time.

@bitterfox, If they have questions about the listing(s) they can ask you through eBay. If they want you to text/message the outside of Ebay then it’s not a question about the item(s) it’s a question about the price. Doesn’t mean it’s a scam but it does potentially open a door.

Also, if eBay has reason to believe that you sold the listing(s) off their platform to a buyer you acquired on their platform they can charge you the selling fees for said listing(s).

I typically ignore those messages because even if they aren’t a scam they are almost always tire-kickers wanting to pay half price.

I just block people like that. I recommend getting familiar with that feature.

Thanks for all the replies. They’re all from different accounts but I noticed one did have a review mentioning the same scam that kingboo64 mentioned. I’ll be ignoring these accounts.
