I think it’s sad that kids just aren’t allowed to be kids anywhere online now. This was always going to happen and nothing could stop it.
The idea of a safe space for young people to discuss Pokemon is sound but there’s no way that PCI are going to spend the money on it for 24 hour moderation and doing it with volunteers is just a bad idea generally anyway. So it was always going to wind up like this.
I’m in my late 30’s and I remember the early internet days, it was a bit of a minefield but it was all new and there were places to go and be a kid.
I empathize but the internet really is inherently child unfriendly and scumbags have always been trying to infiltrate child friendly spaces to ruin them.
I’m in my late 20s and it was the Wild West back then, I def encountered a lot of stuff I shouldn’t have seen in my tween and early teen years lol. I actually feel like the the internet (esp the social media side) is much more mindful of protecting kids and teens than it was when I was growing up. At least in the spaces I’ve been poking around in since I was a kid myself
Yep. Mods get all the hate when something goes wrong, and no appreciation when something goes right. But they definitely are responsible whatever experience you get out of a forum. Not a task I’d ever want to take on, so props to you and anyone out there who mods (in good spirits at least, not troll mods that get forums/subs shut down).
Lysandre wants to essentially nuke the world to eradicate everything not up to his insane beauty standards, i.e., himself. Dude is 100% a white supremacist…
