Mysterious Pearl, Miracle Diamond, and Wonder Platinum

So these three cards have caught my eye recently. They’re from my favorite era, Diamond and Pearl, and actually seem to be pretty rare. I know the Platinum is supposed to have 9 copies because of the age brackets and whatnot, easy enough. Does anyone know the number released of the other two? As I understand they were released in the same way, but why do their pops vary so much at PSA? I know an exact number is impossible, but I’m not exactly clear on their release. Is it safe to say under 100 were released?

Additionally, let’s talk about the prices. Pearl sold fairly recently for $230 and I know a member on here is offering $300. Diamond should be a lot more since there is only one 10 (on eBay $3000 BINOBO), but would a 9 be more or less than the more available Pearl? I guess that goes back to the question of release amount. Pearl has no 9s to compare the price anyway. Finally, the Platinum. The fewest copies released of any card since the early 2000s if I’m not mistaken, about half as many as Maater’s Key. I believe I remember someone saying they sold one for $7000 a few years ago though I question the accuracy of that. Certainly it could be at least that now, possibly pushing $10-15k. That one is in a tier of its own, harder to put a price on.

Sorry if this info is easily available on Y!J, I can’t really navigate that lol.

Hi

Agree with you, all 3 cards have amazing artwork, I really love them!

The reason for the price difference and pop report is quite simply because of the distributed amount of copies.
Miracle Diamond and Mysterious Pearl were both given out in the 2007/8 Battle Road spring and summer tournaments respectively. Some of those tournaments got cancelled due to a threat. There is an estimated 90 copies of the Miracle Diamond given out.
The Mysterious Pearl was later given out as a participation prize in the Winter Battle. So the distributed number is much higher than the Miracle Diamond.

The Wonder Platinum is in its own league and quite simply one of the rarest cards ever printed. I can confirm that a PSA 10 copy sold for $7k a few years back. The most recent sale was on YJ for 500k yen. However this copy might have sold for more if the seller didn‘t put a 500k buy it now on it.

To compare: the Master‘s key has way more than double the amounts of Wonder Platinum in existence. The Master‘s Key has pretty exactly around 30 copies.

In my honest opinion: I wish they would have kept making so beautiful newer trophy cards. The Victory cups/rings and the most recent trophies suck in my opinion :slightly_frowning_face:

Thanks for the response mate. The number I always hear for Key is 17, but that still puts the Platinum ahead. Interesting about the cancellations affecting the numbers. Any idea what a PSA 9 Diamond could go for? You seem like the kind of guy who has seen this card judging by your collection lol. I agree with the new trophies being rather underwhelming. These and the Master Key/Scroll are really where it ends for me. The originals up to those are good but everything else now is kinda meh.

No worries

Not sure about a PSA 9 but the last cooy sold was on YJ in the original case. It was listed for a fee weeks but got sold eventually however I don‘t have the auction link anymore  it was a little over 100k I think.
Maybe someone still has the link here?
