Pretty Wild Update
So he came into work with the rest of his collection I haven’t seen yet and proceeded to tell me he has the rest of his cards and a LOT of shiny energies…
I was taken back and said “ok, let me take a look when I get back home.” Not realizing what he meant.
After coming back home I looked into the box he gave me and man he was right…
He had about 200 of these shiny energies that he said he just "Asked kids if they wanted their left over energies when he was a professor back in the day and the kids would just leave them. He was more than happy to scoop them up.
These energies are playing promo energies and some just regular shiny energy.
I thought maybe they would be worth close to $.50 to max $2 for the shiny variants…
After going through the shiny energies I decided to fumble through the un sleeved cards in the back…
I started to come across staff after staff after staff. No penny sleeve, just raw dog in the box. I immediately started to sleeve every single one of his cards.
This time around he was looking for more of a consignment service versus just buying out all of his collection due to him making more money on the long term.
After sleeving up about 30 staff cards, I went through his top loaders… Most were sleeved, but some were just put into a top leader such as these victory medals…
I cringed as I tried my best to remove them without damaging the cards.
After that I saw these three cards:
Pretty cool finding all these staff cards and such unique items period as well during the dead period of the TCG.
The biggest surprise was looking at the “shiny energies”
Was fumbling through them until I saw all these play promo energies.
I thought “Cool, some of these could go for about $5-$8 a piece”. Boy that was wrong.
Apparently these are some of the most expensive and desired energies in the TCG and they were just chilling in a box forever…
Currently going through all of these along with a ton of LP’d reverse holos from ex team rocket, ex Deoxys, unseen forces, crystal guardians, dragons frontier, ex delta species, exc.
Biggest raw card I came across was the Umbreon Staff and Rayquaza ex delta species…
Pretty crazy…

No way they have that many of the energys this is actually an insane collection
On a a side note did they recognize the mew as a corocoro or were they just like “oh hey a shiny mew”

Just came across this collection @Slade such a cool find with an even cooler backstory. The pedigree on some standout cards and them just being loose in a box is wild.
