So just recently closed on a collection buy from my New Co-Worker. This is Day 4 of my new job when I found out my Co-Worker was a Pokemon Professor from 2004-2008 time period. He showed me his coat and a lot of other unique things he collected over the years including his worlds cards and Staff cards.
I was very interested in his 15th anniversary Box he had from years ago just chilling in his closet with another raw copy in his binder. I decided to buy his whole binder of National and State cards including a bunch of Staff Cards and even 2 Pokemon Professor cards.
He even showed me his original TCG booklet he used to compete! Pretty neat

It is crazy what will happen when your Co-Worker takes a look at your Coro Coro Mew phone lock screen and sparks conversation.
Now he is getting 2K+ cash from me and I’ll be getting some new inventory :]
Either he was getting 70% TCG from me or 40-50% from his local card store. Plus those stores prob would have not even valued the staff cards like I did as TCG player prices. Some of those are like $150 raw lol
I muse. But thats why I’m excited by this. You have the pedigree, which some shmucky card shop won’t give a crap about, and as a collector yourself, you are instantly the one enjoying it. Its so much easier just getting a bunch of cards you’d like in one easy scoop!

Years ago I bought a Pokemon card collection from a work colleague/friend as well! They weren’t a Pokemon Professor, but it made me appreciate the cards a lot more.
That dark explorers umbreon staff is quite sought after, very nice. I bet its minty too if he was a professor. Last sold psa 10 in 2023 sold for nearly 3200,- usd, beautifull art too
