I think the thing to question here is ‘market value’… could you honestly say there is a market value for a 1st ed Base box? They’re so rare that it’s just finding the right buyer at the right time. The phrase “it’s worth whatever someone will pay” gets thrown around a lot, unnecessarily imo (because… no shit?), but for such rare/high end items you just need a couple of the right buyers going for it, wherease most other items are readily available on the market at any given moment.
I’m conscious of this turning into a GMT post, so as for Logan Paul I will say I don’t care for his videos and have no idea what his colleciton goals are, but if you spend that much on one set it sees unlikely that you’d stop there. He strikes me as the kind of guy who wouldn’t be as interested in niche variants like 4th print Base, though of course I don’t know him.
I just ignore it . I have never seen any of his videos ,but it just shows how toxic the media can be.Doesnt matter what you do, as long as you get alot views you get decent amount of money from sponsor ,advertisement, adverts.A lot of kids /teenagers are watching it I guess.
He obviously doesn’t know that dacardworld is selling one for 199k without any rips in the plastic. Granted it has a dented corner but thats much better than multiple rips in the seal.
But to answer op question: yes i will sell. Unless its an exclusive, limited card (basically tropy card) why not? Not like pokemon cards are scarce.
Logan pulls up outside Gary’s house with his merry band of minions
*knock knock knock*
Gary: Hey Logan! Logan steps back a bit Gary has a confused smile on his face
Logan stares at camera
Logan: Look at this $200k box of Pokémons I bought for you Gary Gary’s eyes light up
Gary: Wow Logan that’s a really nice th… Logan pulls out stick of dynamite and starts laughing hysterically
*lights fuse*
Gary: What are you doing brother? Hysterical laughter continues
*boom* Pieces of cardboard fly out in all directions
Gary: Wh… Why did you do that? Logan throws Poké Ball at Gary
Logan: Gotcha! Logan and merry band of minions run off like 12 year olds
He has done some questionable stuff in the past, including the suicide forest fiasco. However, I think if you look more recently at his stuff he has changed a lot. Some of his content is actually pretty entertaining.
I really hope this is true. He’s proclaimed to change before and then proved that he hadn’t. Granted, getting into Pokemon collecting is probably the best use of his personality there is - it’d fit well with the growing trend of Poketuber personalities. Still too much for me personally. We’ll have to see. I find it more interesting that Gary is continuing his celebrity status in the Pokemon world. Waiting for the day he gets invited to Japan to do a promotion.
What up LoGangers! Today I will be cracking out of a case this $100k Charizard and covering it up with Supreme tape to make it even more valuable! And then later today, we will see if this $200k Pokemon Booster Box can withstand 5 sticks of dynamite! WOO
Yes, because it is impossible to disagree or disapprove of someone because they have money.
*Gag*
Logan Paul is famous, but also infamous. He’s brought a lot of negative attention to other areas and I would prefer he keep it away from an important hobby of mine.
I can vouch for this, as I know the person who sold Logan his 60k batch of cards. He was face timing while bidding on the box with the guy… From my understanding, Logan Paul isn’t going to reveal his collection until he has around 7 figures worth of cards, with a specific focus on base. My bet, Gary is gonna sell some 1st edition base in person. But I’m just a fly on the wall
Logan Paul is really good at one thing: getting people talking. You can write a Phd thesis about how you think he is a terrible person, and it will still do exactly what he wants; get people talking.
Oh and by the way, before anyone gets curious… don’t expect to see such a YouTube video of him opening packs / showing off his collection within the next week or so. It’s going to be a few months.
