Life in Japan?

I hope this is an adequate place to make this thread. I was interested in taking an exchange or finding some line of work either before Uni (sometime during next year) or following my post-secondary studies and I was wondering if anyone would be able to give insight into life in Japan. Obviously I can watch youtube videos and so forth but I thought it might be nice to ask others here. I’d be happy to DM anyone who would be willing to talk also.
Thank you!

you have to be more specific

In what country do you currently live? While it’s great in Japan, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side…

Australia. I haven’t had any experience with living for an extended period of time overseas at any point, only monthly (or close to) holidays.

If you’re set on Japan, Australians can get a 1 year working holiday visa with an option to extend to 2 I believe. Remember though it’ll be tough to find actual work and a place to live if you don’t speak Japanese. Teaching English might be an option if you can find a language school to hire you, although personally I’d go for Wwoofing. Room and board in exchange for some labour.

Definitely make a trip here to check the place out before deciding whether to make it your permanent move. The working holiday visa is an outstanding option.

Where are you planning to live?

Japan is a very beautiful but don’t go there expecting it to be heaven. While it isn’t the case for every Japanese company, there could be a high chance you could end up regretting to work in Japan. Their working culture is really harsh and I would recommend you to at least try to apply for a western company with a subsidiary in Japan.

As someone else already suggested teaching english in Japan or any other Asian country seems to be the most popular choice.
