In 1999, my friend got a base set booster box. I was blown away, I didn’t know you could get an entire BOX. We sat in his room and opened them all together. If I wasn’t hooked before, I was now.
Fun fact: This is the best pokemon card ever made.
Great idea! Recently opened a modern booster and my stepdaughter pulled a celebi non holo. Nothing sorcial but she loves it and shows it off all the time.
Thanks for doing the giveaway.
My most pleasant memory was opening the Team Rocket booster pack. This was the first Pokemon booster pack that was made available for purchase in my country (or atleast the first one I could purchase in local shops). I was all hyped looking at the black coloured packs and was completely thrilled pulling the Dark Blastoise out of the 2 packs which I had purchased.
Cheers!
Cheers for the giveaway and congrats on the zard! I remember watching your video and could feel the excitement with you when it was pulled!
My best memories were with Team Rocket Booster Packs when i was a little kid from Woolworths, The Dark Charizard will always be my favourite card, hunting for that was the most fun i’ve ever had opening packs.
When I was young, I remember pulling a beedrill on my second pack. I was so stoked because my first pack was a trainer, lol!
Happy Thanksgiving! My favorite early Pokemon memories were going to Burger King a bunch of times with my brothers and friends while they had the Kids Meal toys and Gold cards. Pokemon posters and stands around the store, which made for an even better atmosphere. There were even a few times where packs were opened. While I don’t remember what was inside them, I do remember one time where we thought it was a big deal because one of the packs were 1st edition (base). This was late middle school, so we would head there on the weekends and sometimes after school ended.
Another cool experience was that we would hang out at the mall every Friday night. There was a kiosk that sold Pokemon card packs and singles. That store lasted several months and it brings back a lot of fond memories.
Favorite Card: Venusaur 1st Edition Base
I remember showing up to school one day and kids were showing Pikachus & Charmanders. I had no idea what they were but had some crazy need to have one. My family didn’t have much money so I remember trading my lunch/snacks for a Pikachu card and recall examining it ALLLL day, haha.
My first pack was that Christmas. I pulled off my stocking and my parents got me (3) fossil booster packs. I freaked! I pulled a Lapras and just stared at the holo all morning. May sounds lame, but that is a huge memory of mine and I appreciate you allowing us to reflect, haha.
Congrats on the success @piezers ,
My favorite pull experience was back in middle school when I pulled a gold star charizard. As caught on camera here

I then proceeded to give it to PrimetimePokemon for free . I was a fucking jimmy
Thank you for doing the giveaway!
One of my more memorable experiences is when I was a young kid I removed buying two Japanese packs on eBay and getting sent two boxes instead. As a kid I was so insanely hyped and had such a fun time opening those.
Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for offering a giveaway!
My favorite memory was being a little kid back in 99. I went to the mall with my mom and she bought me a base pack from EB Games. I opened it up and pulled my very first holo, Gyarados! That is why Gyarados will always be my favorite card in the hobby.
I got back into collecting this year and my recent favorite memories were: 1) After buying box after box and going to countless GameStop’s I pulled Shiny Charizard GX from Hidden fates. This was the first Charizard I ever pulled on my own from a pack so that card will hold a special place for me. 2) I ordered two random Neo Discovery packs on eBay this summer. Last month I really felt like opening my first vintage pack since the early 2000’s so I opened the heaviest pack I had. I pulled a holo Scizor! That card will also be special to me since it was the first holo WOTC card I pulled in 20 years.
Happy Thanksgiving to all! Not sure if I’m allowed to post in the giveaways since I’m new here. Even if I’m not allowed in here, thanks to @piezers for doing this it’s really cool of you.
My favorite pack opening was actually pretty recent…pulled a Mew from a Shining Legends pack right in the card shop. Of course, I immediately sold it back to the store for 4 booster packs, oops! The dopamine hit from a pack opening is tough to contend with sometimes.
But mostly I remember going into the Wizards of the Coast store at the mall as a kid and opening packs. Never pulled anything too crazy, I had pretty poor luck as a kid haha but the memory is still there. I also got a holo Chansey for winning a boulder badge in our local pokemon league at Toys r Us.
My best memory was going into my local GameStop in our local mall and convincing my mom to buy me one base set booster pack (I was 9 at the time).
It was tough work (as a kid) to convince my parents to buy me stuff but they knew how much I was into the poke craze that they allowed me to every once in a while. Also had an allowance that I earned monthly but sometimes could still convince my parents to buy me packs.
I was able to pull a base set charizard from this one pack. It took a lot of convincing and was surprising to say the least to see the charizard after doing the card trick as my last shining card.
Unfortunately a lot of my old collection cards I played and battled with then were sold off in a garage sale when we made our big family move.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and thanks for the opportunity of the giveaway.
Thanks for the giveaway Kanto Shark!
I was a kid when the EX series was new, and every time my mom bought something at a store, I would ask if I could keep the change. This was my primary source of income as a child and every 2 months or so I would accrue enough to buy a booster pack. The first pack I bought did not have a holo, but it had a reverse holo pikachu that I still cherish in my collection to this day. Probably the least impressive but most meaningful card that I own.
When I was in grade school there was a group of older kids opening some team rocket booster packs. Everyone was gathered around them watching them get opened. Obviously everyone wanted to see a dark charizard get pulled. I remember trying to squeeze my way in to the circle of people to see the cards being opened. The one opening them was my friend’s older brother. Suddenly the group of kids erupted into excitement as a dark charizard was pulled. It was non holo but that didn’t matter. Everyone got what they came for. My friend got some of the less popular cards given to him by his brother after they were opened and I ended up getting a dark weezing non holo card given to me which I still have to this day. It is attached to that memory so it is special to me.
I pulled a torchic gold star and, because I was a kid and had no idea what I was looking at, was like “huh, i got ripped off with this pack there is nothing rare in here” and shuffled the torchic gold star into my common bulk. 5 years later I was going through it, looked it up, and was like “huh, I can sell this on ebay for 50 bucks.” I did, and…facepalm.
The other is when I pulled a secret rare charmeleon from TRR and didn’t realize what I had until this year, when I did my huge re-organizing/sorting project for my cards.
Awesome giveaway! 2 years ago I got back into the hobby after being out of it since my childhood. I splurged on buying heavy packs from Base, Jungle and Fossil. I didn’t intend to open them, but decided I was going to send off a couple cards to PSA through TCAgaming. I decided I’d open one of my base set packs, and was very fortunate enough to pull a zard! Sent it in, and was thrilled to hear the word that it got a 10. Still one of my favorite memories to this day in the hobby, as I can honestly say I was just as excited then as I was when I pulled my zard back in the day.
One of my most fun moments happened last week. I was cleaning up my poke cave and organizing some cards. I turned around and looked at the burning shadows etbs I had left sealed (there were two). And I got this feeling…”there’s a Zard In that one”
So I grab it and am I’m like, “do I really want to bust this open?” And I got the feeling again so I went for it.
Pulled the rainbow on the second pack. I just stared at it and started laughing. That was one of my favorite pulls.
Thanks for putting this together!
My second fave memory was when my 63 year old dad showed up at my house in February and drops a plastic bag on the table and says, “do you think Pokémon cards are worth anything?” He had found and brought over part of my childhood collection. In a plastic sandwich bag. There were 10 1st Ed base holos…now at psa. More cards came later!
I was into Yugioh for a few weeks and then I pulled a Latios EX from Dragon Frontiers and I immediately dropped Yugioh and got back into Pokémon.
One of my newest greatest memories in the hobby was the feeling of accomplishment of officially owning my own LLC for selling cards. I’ve wanted to own a business for a while and I’ve been fortunate enough to make my hobby into a second job. From selling cards and making a $1 profit to doing significantly bigger and better things. It’s been a fun journey.
